Who is this guy 'Bugs', anyway?

Of course, many of you already know plenty about the Banks and One Pocket legend from Chicago, Leonard 'Bugs' Rucker. But, in case you don't, I interviewed him a couple of years ago at the Derby City Classic. He was there to be inducted into the One Pocket Hall of Fame.

There are two parts to the interview:
Part one focuses mainly on Bugs
Part two goes into the background that Bugs came out of

Now granted, these interviews are only partly with him -- they include major portions that are not with him directly, but are with other old-timers from Chicago who knew him, went on the road with him or competed against him. At the time I did these interviews Bugs was already confined mainly to a wheelchair or in bed -- yet he came to Louisville for his induction!

Unfortunately, Bugs condition has worsened of late, and he is now hospitalized, having had one leg amputed just below the knee last week.

For giving Bugs his due.The man is one of my biggest influences to play pool .I am glad he was recognized by you all at onepocket.org in the hall of fame in Banks and One hole..

May God bless Leonard and restore his health .He is a true pool Legend
 
Great articles I enjoyed reading them. What does it mean when you give 9 to 7 ?

You must be a beginner..This is a Onepocket(or full rack banks) spot(Handicap) used in gambling (matching up) .If the game is 9-7..Bugs has to go to 9 and the other guy goes to 7..The better player(Bugs) gives up the weight(spot) to make a fair game.

Richie,
He handicapped the match to entice Geese (or whomever) into playing, since he woul be considered the favorite. In this case, "9-7" means that to win, Bugs would have to make 9 balls whle Geese would win if he made 7 balls.

Whoa....Easy there Locksmith....Even you started out with a paperclip before you graduated to bank vaults:)

Ain't you never watched those old "Kung Fu" re-runs where Kwi Chang Cain asked about water or a pebble. Did the master ever say "Ho ho ho, you must be a beginner!" No. That would have discouraged the grasshopper from asking something else later. You need more patience.:D
