Who Made It?

It's signed Richard Black, but it's not. Does anyone have any idea who might have made it? I bought it in Pasadena Tx. about 2 months ago.

Orphan Cue

I contacted Mr. Black and he was nice enough to look at some pictures. he said it didn't appear to be even his earliest work, but that was all he offered. Whoever made it did a good job. Rosewood w/ birdseye forearm, ivory butt cap, and a brass piloted joint w/ 5/16x18 pin. The points are sharp and even, (there's even a repair on one of the points that noone has noticed until I pointed it out to them) it's old but it's real straight and hits great. I don't care if it's worth anything, there're just a handful of us who are curious about it.

It's the other Richard Black. The one who lived in El Segundo, Ca and worked at the local fertilizer plant.
He tried making pool cues in his spare time, but only succeeded in finishing one cue. Probably the very cue you have.
Mr. Black gave up on his dream of building custom pool cues, quit his job at the fertilizer plant, and took a job with a wilderness outfitter baiting trot lines along the Columbia river. As it was a union job he started out as an apprentice and two years later he became a masterbaiter.

man when i saw this cue post on craigslist i almost fell out of the chair to get the phone....then i saw the signature and couldnt stop laughing....gl with finding out who made it....
i really like the way it was singed...the way willie hoppies were singed at the a cool angle but then used richards name...i am so glad you posted this it really gives me another chuckle...
