Who originated the "razor" inlay?

What was first, the inlay or the necklace and was this a 70's thing? I'm being serious.

If you're talking the clipped corner window, I would think possibly Gus or Gina. Gus used to inlay ebony dots in the corners, and as the finish would wear a little thin you could see the outlines. In the world of .010 cutters, most are single inlays.

It was a guy by the name of Gillette.
Mr. Gillette, who owned a razor manufacturing company in New York City, and on the occasion of his forty fifth birthday, was given a brand new Harvey Martin cue. Gillette, an avid three cushion player, would oft times entertain some of the greats of the game in his private billiard room, adjacent to the main dining hall, in his mansion on Park Avenue. Seen there was Greenleaf, Hoppe, and California Carlson, just to name a few.
To commemorate Mr. Gillette's natal anniversary, cue maker Martin installed a double edged razor blade in the forearm of the cue.
It was not popular, as it turned out, because after each shot Gillette would let the cue slide down through his hand, as we all do, lacerating himself in the process. Once, after a particularly tricky carom shot, he severed and artery and was rushed to the hospital.
The cue was never seen again.
I'm almost certain this is a true story.
