Who said trickshots dont come up in real game scenarios? :p

I did this one

Florian 'Venom' Kohler strikes again, this time during a streamed tournament.

About a decade ago, I was playing in a local 9-ball event when I was faced with the 1-ball and cue ball lined up for straight in the side, but the pocket blocked in such a way that nothing would go. I saw my only option as the 3-rail bank in the side that they used to shoot in trick shot competition. I didn't really want to shoot it, but it was a critical game and I had no easy safety.

Of course I made the shot, but pretended it was just luck, so they wouldn't try to ban me from the tournament!

I just happened to have to use some trickery this past weekend in a tournament...probably more common a shot than Venoms...

Had a ball about 1/2 off the side rail. Needed to break out a ball about 6" out from the same rail but one of the opponents balls was in the way in such a position that I could not go directly into his ball after I hit mine...It would have been stcuk there with no open shot afterwards. So I opted to used high right (outside) english with emphisis on the high. Hit it the correct speed and the cue ball curved back down table after I hit my ball, went around his ball and moved my ball into the open giving my the rest of the table to work with.

It was pretty to see and something you don't often see. I'm sure it wasn't too difficult for many players, but you just don't see that sort of trickery in a normal game...like the title says. Probably only the second time I have ever attempted that particular shot in my life.

Of course, a one handed jump is way outa my league. I would never even consider that shot. I might have tried to Masse, but not a jump shot.

Great shot Florian...thanks for the show Nathan.
