Going pro
Hey I wanted to dedicate a thread to this. Who was that guy that just walked in the hall that one day and destroyed me?
I’ll start. Chicagoland area around 2000. An old guy. His name was Vince. Some people called him Vincent. Always complained about his glaucoma and this and that. Was 80 something at the time. That guy could play a mean one pocket. I mean I spent 1000’s of hours playing him one pocket and 1000’s of dollars paying him. Never even beat him 1 game. Still to this day have no clue his last name or who he even was. He did love going to the racetrack though. Only thing I got from the owner of the hall and the semi pro level player at the hall was-“don’t play that guy”
I really wish I knew who he was. Still this day I will not break like a lot of the people break in one pocket now. I remember those games with Vince annd still to this day playing 1 pocket I always beak just the corner ball down and go from there. Just playing him so much and being able to recall that has made my one pocket game one of the best of all my games. Never get to play it anymore against opponents. No one plays 1 pocket around here. I just wish I knew who that guy really was.
Anyone knows? Feel free to chime in.
Anyone else wondering who that guy was that one time? Chime in with your own story. Maybe like me it’s still irking you who that player really was. I don’t know. I’ve been doing this a long time and at times get a bit sentimental. Especially remembering how it used to be compared to how it is now. Maybe some of us can finally get down to the bottom of something that’s been bothering us for a long time. And stories are always fun to read if nothing else. Take it easy everybody.
