My two choices would be Jeanette Lee and Jasmin Ouschan, two fiery, attractive competitors.

Both Johnny and Earl could help, too.

Do you really think that a couple young supple bodies with pretty faces would be found attractive by this AZ board much less the viewing public???

Yeah, little Alex could get a few ratings (if that's possible with pool). Too bad some of the old timers like Jimmy Mataya and Ronnie Allen aren't around (competitively) anymore.

Just look at the old Mosconi/Fats ABC broadcasts. Mosconi was past his prime, and whatever prime Fats may have once had was well gone -- but he still entertained a crowd.

Maybe Bravo can add to their multitude of reality broadcasts, and bring on Alex as the star. Of course being Bravo, they'd have to make him gay but that's just a minor detail.

:) :D :) :D

Attract & hold an audience

If professional pool is going to get big ie. prize money, world championship, governing body, etc., it will have to be financed. TV will bring in the money by their acquiring sponsors. Sponsors will provide the money if there are enough TV spectators with buying power. It is a given that most viewers do not know the nuances of pool. What we as players like to see and what the general public would like is probably different.

So my poll question is:

Who would be the best to attract and hold a general public TV viewing audience?

Johnny Archer
Earl Strickland

Neither. Pool is too boring for general audience viewing, especially men's. You have to truly love pool and the nuances of the game to watch it.

The women's tour is better for tv and the women players are much better to watch.

No comparison. The public wants drama. Earl would give it to them.
I'd rather watch paint dry than watch Archer.

They could put Alex Pagulayan, Cory Deuel, Gabe Owen, Neils Feijen, and a few other younger male players in a big house with Jasmin Ouschan, Sarah Ellerby, Kim Shaw, Kim White, Tiffany Nelson, and a few other younger women players for two months... with only one 9 footer!

Or they could run it like the contender
and have Paul Newman and Keith McCready
as the hosts.

EXACTLY! That would be the sheeeeeeeeeeeeit. They could be coached to make it more exciting... celebrate more after making difficult shots, get pissed off more at themselves when they miss, etc. Maybe even have someone break a cue on someone else's back and get kicked out of the house, only to have them come back for the finals

No neither option?

I vote neither because there are probably 50 players if not more in the world right now who are better figureheads for the sport than these two.

Yeaaah!! I love this idea! You know if you put ANY 3 male pros in a house with ANY 3 female pros there WILL be drama!! Eventually they'll get into fights about why men are more dominant players than women......and then us women would look stupid if they really tried to challenge the men......but they probably would try ............and then fail.......then there will be more tension......and of course MORE DRAMA!!!! It's the truth, "drama" sells!

It would be good for the men cause it would show the public exactly how much better at the game they are than pretty much all the women pros.

Sorry, not trying to dog the women (I am a player myself) but it's just my beliefs.......but it has been proven to be factual.....the men don't get the kind of credit they deserve for the skills they possess. The men pros are COMPLETELY on another level than the women.

Shoot, hope I don't start another one of these threads......lol
