1) who would you guys like to see in this years finals ?

2) who would you guys like to see in action in Manila that hopefully Jay will give us some details on ? :D

1 - yang vs alcano or yang vs pagulayan

2- yang vs alcano, orcullo or any philipinos

Hard to say ...

But I think Bustamante is due for a big one. When he is on, no one has to like it, not even Efren. When I look at pro players, no one has a better awareness of everything than Francisco, like all the rules, the layout, to proper placement of the cue ball before breaking (completely behind the line), etc..

When I go play, it's the young guys that have that 'Bustamante' stroke are ones that a yellow flag goes up, because when they are on, they can play 2-3 balls above where they usually do. It's rare, but there are like 2 guys locally that have that same type stroke.

Yang Ching-Shun (Taiwan No 1 and 2005 the Phillipines Open champion) and Alex Pagulayan (Phillipines No 1). As I know European and American never did well in the Phillipines.

Your right, what Busta has, and few others (Earl, Ortman) another gear or two, and its because of that wide open swing that enables his style of play to settle in quickly, gain speed control and his break also gets better during this transition. As an opponent when you see him "smooth out" its VERY intimidating and can affect your game. I'm with you on this one, Busta is starting to play like we all know he can, like Earl in his prime, frikin fast, loose but without the Earl "extras".

Mika Immonen beat Efren for the title at the 1st Philippine International 9-Ball Open.

Am also rooting for Bustamante.

Django Bustamante just won the Philippine 9-ball Open tonight here in the Philippines. His opponent in the finals was Leonardo Didal, who I guess can be classified as a journeyman. Didal has been seen in action in a few local tournaments as of late.

Final score was 17-11.

It would be a brave man to bet against a player from the Philippines winning on home soil, but if you are asking who I would like to see in the finals this year, then I would have to be patriotic and go for a UK player of course! That's only an outside chance but maybe Darren Appleton might surprise a few people.

I'd also love to see Tony Drago in full flow - that guy plays scarily fast when he gets into gear and there is never a dull moment watching him, that's for sure.

this makes him back-to-back champion, right? or did alex win it last time? im getting confused....

I am from singapore....Though I am rooting for my own players.....

I do hope to see an ARCHER - STRICKLAND Final.......

If they can get their Breaks going....I hope they will go far in this tournament......

I do love Efren and the filipinos.....taiwanese......

However....I think it is time for either archer and strickland to prove people worng......

Yeah! A Bustamante vs. Strickland rematch would be great and long overdue! Sadly, I doubt if Strickland would be able to last that long.....

I wouldn't mind seeing Reyes vs Ortmann, last time they matched up in the WPC it was simply an incredible display of pool at it's highest level. Both have won it before and although they are getting on in age they are still very capable of winning.

Given KT's promises to send Efren's $500k soon looks like as reliable as a chocolate condom I hope Efren wins it.

Although I already think he's the all round king he "only" has one 9 Ball world title and one US Open title (despite getting to the US Open final 4 times in a row!). If he win's a second title it will cememt his place as the greatest.

Although I'd like a Brit to make the final, can you imagine how good an Earl v Efren final would be with 10,000 filipino fans watching?!

Although it is highly unlikely given Earl's form over the past several years this would undoubtedly make for one of the greatest finals of all time. With all the Filipino fans cheering on Efren I assume Earl would truly go off the deep end never to return:)

How about another Reyes/Morris final? With allot of players holding less $$ than anticipated, I think allot of em will play even better this year, plus allot more have been practicing this past 6 months.

if we have 3 or more USA players in the final 16, we will be lucky.

If we had one, it would be amazing, tho it would be cool to see Earl there. I don't think his ":D quiet:D " demeanor would allow it tho.;)
