Alright, bad might be too strong of a word, how about antsy or excited? I know I am any combination or maybe all of the above. I have a cue on order from Jim Lee right now and it takes everything I have not to pester him with questions every other week, I do pretty well if I can limit it to twice a month or so.

It was way worse when we were trying to iron out all of the details of the cue in question. What kind of wood did I want? Well, I like this, this, and this, but could you send me pictures of that, that, and that? What color stains can you do? What shade of stains (still gotta nail that one down actually) can you do? Can we do inlays this way and at this size? Wait, I changed my mind, I want the veneers in this order. Oh, I just saw this style of ringwork, can we do that instead of this? etc. etc.

I think he's been a pretty good sport about it so far though. I know you'd have to be pretty damn passionate about cuemaking to be able to deal with people like me on a regular basis. Unless I'm the only one that's like this?

I'm sure that youre not the ony one like that!! I have ordered many custom cues and you just have to be patient.

Post up pics when you get it.

Russ.....

keeping it under control

i have been on a couple guys' lists for about 3 1/2 years. may be coming up for cue specs in a years or thereabouts. i can only imagine how nailbiting it will be! do i call him today, or tomorrow? wait for the weekend til he is not so busy? lol! does he work on the weekends? should i call first thing in the morning? 8 a.m. on the nose? 8:05? 8:30? 9:00? wait til he stops for lunch? til he gets back from lunch? just before he quits for the day? call at home after he eats supper(do cuemakers eat supper?)?
i am waiting for the emails, let me tell you! best wishes to you and your wait. funny how times flies/drags/flies/drags etc.

by the way, calling pete tascarella, sr. at home is not a good thing to do.from what i have heard. definitely not a knock on pete tascarella, sr at all!!!

Jim's pretty good about phone calls. I'm normally up until around 2 or so, and like me he's a night owl, so it works out. It definitely is strange how time seems to fly by, but in terms of waiting, time is dragging.

If you are excessively antsy, you and the cuemaker are better off with you purchasing from the secondary market or a production cue.

With all cuemakers, patience is a must!

If you can muster the patience, go with a reputable maker, go over design, details, price, and order it - then give them a call in 6mos.

Hopefully, they will have contacted you first, but not likely.

I have yet to order a cue that took any less than a year to have made. Lotsa times I get preferential treatment too. LOL!
