Soho billiards

Wow, I remember Soho Billiards. There used to be a weekly Monday night tournament there, in 1996, i think, and I often played in it. That tournament always had a strong field.

I live in lower Manhattan and I play at Corner Billiards. Currently playing in the "D" 9 ball league there.

o i pass by there to watch one dude play. thats it.

i do sometime go to corner, but its been months since ive been there.

which dude? im pretty sure yur talking about one of the guys on table 4 right?

i don't "live" in nyc, but i spend quite a bit of time there. when i'm there i play at God's gift to pool players (amsterdam) :D

Yeah I like table 6 at soho billiards for practicing, has tight pockets. Forces me to think more about my aiming. When i go back to table with regular pockets I usually can do much better.

the best dude in ther.

I live in Jersey but I'm in NYC a lot. I've been going to Corner Billiards lately since I'm taking lessons there. I really like the way they renovated the place. I go to Fat Cat Billiards occasionally, but only because it's cheap. Otherwise, that place is a shit-hole. I don't know how they stay in business.

As far as playing at bars... the Stoned Crow is by far the best. The owner keeps the table in great shape. Also, the level of competition is usually pretty good. However, you occasionally get nights where there are way too many stupid drunk people wanting to play pool

Are you taking lesson's from Fran on table 19 or just getting advice from the regulars?
Yup, I'm getting lessons from Fran. I've only taken two lessons so far, but I've seen a real improvement.

After playing on their tables for ten minutes my hands turn black as night. I guess they've never heard of brushing off a table. :D

Good stuff, maybe we'll hook up sometime, play a couple of racks.

Sounds good. I'll be there again on the 27th taking another lesson.

Do you like the 9 ball league at Corner? Is it just a house league or is it associated with the BCA?

I live in The Bronx and play at ABC among a bunch of other places. I don't get why Corner has so many kiddy eigth by fours... Otherwise the equipment is almost on par with Amsterdam. If there's a poolhall where they play acceptable music or none at all, please let me know, anyone! I guess Fat Cat or Masters would be it. Sometimes the music at ABC makes me go psycho (it's everyday the same) and I don't even notice because I'm concentrating on pool... the damage is done when I try to go to sleep :p
