Who's Going?

That's nuts...

Flying has shown to be MUCH safer than driving...and if it's not, it's over real quick.

Really? I think flying is safe but I feel same when I am doing the driving.

If my Car stop running I don't free fall from 35,000', I just pull over and call AAA.

It been a long time since we had a Big Airplane Crash in the U.S., I think it could happen soon.

You mean right after the comet smashes into the earth? Or before?

When I drive I know the guybehind the wheel real well.

Yeah, but do you know everybody that's behind you, on the side of you, in front of you, and the guy coming straight at you? They have a little something to do with it also....

Is that before or after Santa visits this year.

Yeah, but do you know everybody that's behind you, on the side of you, in front of you, and the guy coming straight at you? They have a little something to do with it also....

That is why you need to be alert.

You have never had an accident?[/QUOTE]

Chargeable, Preventable, or Not MY FAULT?

I'll be there from the 23rd on and wouldn't mind a little action, with the regular Az group that is. Cheap sets of anything on the pool table.

My name is Mike, and I have been there for several years, so you should know me.

What is a member. And are lurkers welcome in the az room?

Lurkers are most certainly welcome but the AZBilliards members who send in a fee for the priviledge of playing pool in the AZ Room are the only ones allowed to play pool in the AZ Room except for Professional Pool Players on THE LIST.

I don't have the link handy for the AZ Room at DCC but you should be able to do a search and bring it up easy enough for additional details.

Cost of Cab Ride....

23 Jan - 1 Feb ;-)
After a long call I got a room in the Casino and a long flight from Austria to Louisville ;-)

Its my first time on the DCC, cant wait to meet all the guys from here and also cant wait to enjoy the event.

Does anybody know what is the cheapest/best way to get from the airport to the Horseshoe Casino ?

Markus,
Since you have such a long way to travel, I did a little research with different sources for you and the information is VERY accurate.

It appears to be 45 minutes of travel time by automobile. The only official shuttle from the Louisville, KY airport to Elizabeth, Indiana is on Friday and it is provided by Greg Sullivan but you will be able to get a cab to take you to the casino for between
$40-$50 U.S. currency.

You might look around for some other guys carrying cue stick cases and ask them if they want to share a ride. Just don't tell them you are from out of the country and have a pocket full of greenbacks. :D j/k Pool players are pure of heart like the wind driven snow, well maybe after it has melted a bit. But seriously, I wouldn't hesitate sharing a cab ride with any of the pool players at the airport. They are in the same situation that you are and wouldn't mind saving a few bucks. The only problem is that many will have their cue cases stuffed in their luggage like me so then you may just have to look closely at the people around you and those with larceny in their eyes may be the pool player you want to share the ride with.

SOME OF THE AZBILLIARDS members may have their AZ Billiards Key Tag attached to their luggage or cue case. You can get one at http://marketplace.azbilliards.com/store/home.php for $4.95

AZ Room Privileges for playing pool.

how do I contribute to the az room; nice feature.
looking forward to playing with my zinzola cue in all three main events.
ciao

Any of the members of AZ Billiards may send in their donation to garner pool playing privileges.

A lurker is someone who does not normally participate and just wants to hang out, visit or observe. AZB lurkers are most welcome even if they don't pay for the privilege of playing on the AZ B pool tables.

To send in your money:

See you there.....Zinzola? hmmmm ....bring it to the AZ Room for us to check it out...

I'll be arriving Tuesday as well! I should be at the airport around noon (local Louisville time). I'll be renting a car, so feel free to PM me if you want a ride (I'm staying at the Holiday Inn).

Hey Mike,

I'll be there the same time as you. I'll give you some play on your cheap action.

Haven't missed one yet. I'm still breathing. Guess that's settled.

I guess we're staying at the Hampton Inn. That will be strange.

You know? I have a strange prediction many people will be taking few power naps from their friend of a buddy's room at Harrah's instead of driving back to their hotel;) . I will confess, the first time I was at the Derby, I only slept 2 hours a day for a week:eek: ! And that was because I was afraid to miss any action if I went to sleep. :grin-square:

Can't wait

I'll be staying in the casino hotel on the 27th, 28th and 29th. Would consider sharing the room and splitting the costs with a compatible roomie -- but be forewarned that I smoke, drink and keep crazy hours during this tournament. If that don't scare you off, shoot me a PM. Oh, yeah, and I'm 60 years young.

I just booked my flights for the first friday thru tuesday.

I recomend you call and verify your reservations. I always double check mine and they had me down for something like 28 days from jan 21-feb something. I am only going for 4 nights.
They had a similar error for me -- then they wanted to welch on the special rate when I got them to correct their error! They did fix it all, however. But you all better check!!

PS I am there from Sat-Friday for the complete One Pocket

Chris/Steve, thanks for the heads-up on confirming reservations. I usually do, but hadn't thought about it yet for this year. When I called, they had me down for a 2-week stay, which did include the DCC dates when my actual reservation was only supposed to be for the nights of 1/28-1/30. The CSR made the change to my reservation and quoted me (what I believe) to be the correct rates ($105 for Wednesday & Thursday, $130 for Friday), and they did have my correct request of (2) beds and a non-smoking room. Can anyone confirm these rates for me as the "DCC" event rates?

I had the exact same problem when I check my reservations, had me for the whole 2 weeks even though my email confirmation on showed the two nights. Either way they did supposedly resolve it for me.
