When you think of your game as compared to a certain pro, who's game do you try to duplicate? or who's would you like to duplicate and why ?

Or do you just try to invent your own game and dont want to elaberate.!

I myself strive to play like the likes of Jim Rempe, when i watched him recently during the 2000 US Open Straight Pool event i was overly impressed in what i saw.

To break down his game when it comes to his stroke, he was next to flawless. And just his amount of focus and determination to Make every shot and strive to get perfect on every shot. and when he didnt accepting it and play out a different shot just to get perfect for what he needed to get done to get out of the rack.

I wish i could style my game all around like his, So yes he is my idol...

What About Yours ?

Steve

This by no means is meant to be a statement of , I Play as good as "Such Pro" its just a question of Who you try to style your game after.

I am influenced by many great players. For me, its different shots that I got influenced by different players. For long shots Mike Sigel made me take notice when he was spearing them in the center of the hole, I noticed he would really take his time and steady his stance more than usual and double and triple check his stroke, now I tend to do the same thing on every long shot. For breakball shots it was The Miz that influenced me the most, he could follow with the cue ball and it would bounce back out and go back in through the stack 2 or 3 times! That stuck with me and I tend to use a lot of follow on breakball shots. On close position maneuvering around the rack It was Dallas West that impressed me the most, I now tend to chip away with bumping a ball here and bumping a ball there, Dallas was the best ever at that. And finally Mike Zuglan influenced me the most when a tough shot had to be made, he is the best I ever saw at firing out of trouble, and get back in line while doing so. I tend to have a go for it attitude from watching Mike.

So you shoot like Sigel, break like The Miz, chip away like Dallas West, and get out of trouble like Zuglan... and you call yourself "selftaut"?

LOL, yeah and there is still sumfin missin that I can't put my finner on :)

This is an interesting topic.

There aren't any players that I neccessarily play like, but if there was anyone it would be thorsten hohmann. I tend towards hitting the break shots hard when I can, and I tend take shots into the lower corner pockets and narrow angles into the side more than most.

If anything I guess I play like a snooker player playing pool :).

I can agree with trying to emulate Jim Rempe. I've never been more impressed with a straight pool player than I have been watching Jim Rempe.
