Quite an assortment to show off the new Brunswick Centennial, circa 1945

Let’s have some fun. I was one year old when this picture was taken.

To the left of Mosconi is Jimmy Caras. To the right of Mosconi is Jimmy Moore. To the right of Moore is a man I can’t identify, but his tie is rumpled and so he’s a pool player. Then comes Irving Crane. Then comes a short man whose suit coat doesn’t fit in the shoulders, so I speculate he’s a pool player I don’t recognize the man to right of him. Can that be Wimpy? I think Wimpy was shorter than Crane, and I don’t think he was playing tournaments in forty-four.

Starting from the left, can the second man be Jay Bozeman, the three-cushion player? That’s a wild stab. And here’s a wilder one. Can the man fourth from the left—wait for it!—be Fats!? I know this is twenty years before ā€œThe Hustler,ā€ and the only Fats I ever knew looked like an unmade bed, but…. As for the third man from the left, his cuffs (shirt and slacks) fit so badly he has to be a pool player or a Brunswick mechanic or machinist put into the picture to recognize his work.

If the guy first on the left was not a tournament player, he should have been.

Confirmations and corrections?

Fats would not be part of this crowd.

I gave you the picture...which I bought off Lorie John''s halsband who had a ton of old pics and tournament poster reprints.

When are you going to show the other thing I gave (sold) you?

I’ve got a candidate for the man with a rumple tie next to Crane. Joe Chamaco.
Not Chamaco. Looking at the photo to the left of Crane is, Gene Skinner. He was a very good 1 pocket & 3C player. In this company he was a Pro Referee for Brunswick.

In the 60's, 70's He'd come down to North Miami and hustle Golf and hang around the Congress Bowl/Billiards.

Sorry! I had missed your post about Skinner. I yield. I had my doubts about Chamaco both from the face and because Chamaco was very upscale about his appearance.
