Using sidespin means 2 things... deflection/cueball squirt and swerve where the cueball curves in the direction of the english....
At firm speeds swerve may not be something you even have to deal with you just aim thick or thin and let the cueball squirt adjust the hit on the object ball....
At slow speed however there will be greater swerve the more slowly the ball is hit possible enough to completely eliminate squirt...
Add to this that BHE compensates for squirt and not swerve and english becomes harder to use at lower speed..
Try aiming you slow english shots like you were not going to use english at all and note where you are missing if you still are... this will give you an idea as to how much swerve you are getting compared to the initial squirt at contact....

I remember discussing this subject once with none other than Steve Mizerak.
His way of putting it was for any given shot hit with english, there is a speed at which deflection/squirt dominates swerve. Below that speed, swerve has to be allowed for in one's aim.
