Why are P3's usually cheaper than P2's?

I dunno, but i guy i know and play sets with has a P3 , bought not to long ago and recently it has been making sounds in the butt, like inside the cue something came loose or broke. He is pissed and is now using a custom cue and said he wished he never purchased it. I told him to contact Pred to see if they do some sort of warranty but... he said he is happy with the cue he uses now so... what i am saying is maybe the quality is worse.
