Why change primary Playing cue???

hi

Why do man changes woman or vice versa? There is always something new in new cue and its fun.

I can think of three reasons off the top of my head.

1) Some POS steals your cue or you just lose/break it somehow.

2) Your tastes or likes/dislikes changes as you grow older. For instance, when I was in my teens I loved my fire engine red Camaro, with the 3-inch lifted rear end, the polished chrome rims, the intricate detail of the hand-painted scrollwork down both fenders, etc. Nowadays, I like subtle, like the natural wood look of my Albrecht cue.

3) You discover that a particular feature works better for you than whatever you were using in the past. For instance, I was a McDermott guy for a long time (vehemently so actually), and then discovered Meucci. Or rather, I discovered that I liked a pro taper better than a conical, that I like the lacquered feel of a Meucci handle more than what was then the more traditional wrapped linen, etc. and so on.

I also have gone from wanting a 21 oz. stick in my early twenties, to (for the last 18 years or so now) liking an 18 or even a 17 oz. stick for breaking and for shooting.

4) I guess there's a fourth reason: just because I want to. Or more simply: why not?

Here’s My Take and My Cue-Makers Concur.

Why do golf pros switch putters between tournaments & sometimes even rounds?
Why do some pros switch equipment brands & it’s not always for more contract $.

Sure endorsement contracts can be worth millions but not at the cost of bad play.
Pros that switch, play poorly & stick with the new brand are doing it for the money.

Players like Fowler, Koepka, McElroy, Hamn , Mickelson, Woods, Kuchar, DeChambeau,
etc. aren’t desperate for the contract money. They want to play better, win more and in
turn earn bigger contracts. But not if and when it hurts their golf game. Winning is #1.

Well, in pool, pool cues can & do play differently and the tactile feel of your stroke too.
When you want to make a change, say because you seem to be struggling at a tournament
Involving long waits between matches. You find yourself practicing before your next
match and so you try a different cue you carry. Sometimes that’s enough to cause your
internal switch to go off and for whatever reason, you start pocketing shots you missed.

Maybe the shaft is smaller, larger, heavier, cleaner, smoother, or has a different tip or the
wrap feels different, or there’s no wrap, the cue is weighted differently, or is heavier or
lighter or the butt is a little wider or thinner? The most important aspect to look at is
whether the cues have different weight proportionality?

Pool cue weight proportionality is important. There is a difference if the two cues both
weigh19.25 ozs but one is 15,75/3.5 os and the other was 15.0/4.25 ozs. My cues are
are matched to have the same weight ratio and cue specs so switching cues is not as
dramatic a change as it might be for others. But I’ve done this intentionally and cues I’ve
been offered, even my dream Hercek cue, were rejected because of a different joint or
were too heavy. All my flat ivory joint cues are big pin & under 19 ozs. So it is relatively
easy for me to switch cues and I enjoy doing it at practice. During a tournament or even
a match, if I start to struggle or lose the feel of my stroke, then it’s time to switch cues.
