Why CTE is silly

I'm reluctant to touch this one....

but it doesn't make the reneger look very good....

I'd accept a substitute! I vote for Dr. Dave, Lou, Mike Page....

Anyone else? I would think the difficult part would be getting anyone to accept the invitation--even I don't REALLY want to have to DIRECTLY criticize someone's earnest work (which is always why I'd rather hash it out here, on theoretical grounds). The odds seem VERY high that there's nothing substantial behind the CTE hype. Maybe Stan is looking at his work for the first time from the perspective of a critic, and is losing some steam....

I had originally made up my mind POSITIVELY NOT to buy this DVD. I wouldn't want to put money in someone's pocket who I thought wasn't trying 100% to be aboveboard and fully forthcoming about their product.

Now I'm thinking maybe I WILL pick up a copy and offer a review here...if an objective third-party reviewer isn't given a chance first.

I have been available for lessons on CTE/PRO ONE since July and have been teaching PRO ONE for 3 years. No critic has ever checked in to making a visit for lessons. I have even offered a double your money back guarantee if the system is not what I say it is. I have not been out any money yet! Why, because the system can be taught in an exact step by step process. The results are center pocket angles including the pivot for CTE shots.

I am sure there will be many reviews of CTE/PRO ONE. JoeyA will give the first one.....and think what you wish. Joey will pull no punches!

That has been planned for many, many weeks.

That sounds fair. DOUBLE your money back is VERY fair--but sometimes (i.e., almost always!) those sorts of promises are contrived and qualified to the point where they're meaningless. Few businesses can stand up to the number of people who couldn't resist getting PAID lessons. I've heard it said by restaurateurs that 19 out of 20 bartenders will steal from the till. Would those same guys reject an opportunity to get double their money back from a deal--after they had ALREADY gotten the lessons? I'll just say....I've known a lotta hard guys who play pool ;)

JoeyA is obviously a nice guy, etc., etc., but (and I've only been here a VERY SHORT WHILE) I honestly don't see him giving an objective, critical assessment. He somehow seems to see it as a sin to say anything negative about anybody or anything--not exactly the one to look to for a discriminating perspective.

Maybe I'm just gonna have to sell some food stamps and pony up $39. We'll see ;)

I am sure most anyone would accept the offer of a free DVD. My intent was to have a 1 to 1 session which is always superior to video. My lessons for CTE/PRO ONE are 5 hours and the DVD is close to 90 minutes. The DVD covers content very well but obviously there is no personal feedback and observation on my part. An advantage of the video will be that it can be watched over and over until concepts are understood.

Stan

When will you start accepting payment for the dvd? I will order as soon as
you are taking them, I already use cte with great success ,so I am
really looking forward to comparing notes with your version. Maybe it
gets even better. Thank You and looking forward to it.

My plan is for Paypal to be active on www.justcueit.com by November 15 for early ordering with hopes for orders to be shipped in early December. Price: $39 plus $6 s/h continental US. International orders: $39 plus $10 s/h. I am already accepting orders by personal/cashiers' check, and money orders.
My address/contact info is at the bottom of my lesson's page on justcueit.com.

In any case I won't be depending on a truly critical review. Hasn't he already shown up in this thread in support of CTE?

lol. No, Joey will pull no punches.

Because he will not throw any.

I appreciate what you are saying and your point is well-taken.

Of my initial lot of DVDs, there are a few that will be allocated at no charge for various purposes. (probably less than 10)

So, if PJ takes me up on my offer then I will balance out his deal to you with the same offer.

Thanks for your input,

Stan

Thanks for the offer Stan, but i dont mind paying for good info.

This post will tell you JoeyA's state of mind on CTE/Pro-One as of about 5 months ago.

hehehe...

Well, no punches pulled there--and as Lou said, none thrown, either :D :D

I'll admit, for a minute, Stan's REALLY friendly and generous offer to PJ had me a bit blown away--hey, maybe these guys really ARE ready to be forthcoming with something of substance.

Now that it's obvious that Stan's remark about JoeyA's "review" was TOTALLY self-serving baloney.....it's back to business as usual...

I've heard that he is a defender of Hal Houle, yes.

Hal Houle is a very senior member of our community, at least for the moment. He has made valuable contributions to the pool world as evidenced by the people who utilize CTE and Hal's other aiming systems.

The bottom line is that Hal deserves our respect not only for his pool contributions but especially because of his elder statesmanship.

Some people apparently were never taught to respect their elders. :(:o

The vilification of Hal by a few in this forum is discraceful, imo.

I look at people and wonder what kind of contributions they have made to their fellow man and their peers. I think Hal has made GREAT CONTRIBUTIONS to the pool world and it is genuinely shameful the way some AZBers talk about him.

Actually, I think the thing that really bothers me is the fact that Hal is old enough to be most of your grandfathers, if not great-grandfather and some of you don't even have the decency to respect a man of his years.

Yeah, I guess I do defend Hal Houle........................... and I'm proud of that fact.

Those who attempt to vilify Hal Houle should hang their head in shame. imo.

Unbiased, Fair, Objective??????????????????????

That's an unfair criticism. Patrick doesn't sugar coat things, but he's a model of fair, objective, and unbiased around here.

He comes down on unsupported claims, as he should.

Yeah sure Mike. Patrick insinuates that Hal took acid to come up with his aiming systems. If you think that's a fair criticism even if in despicable jest, then I misjudged you as well.

Patrick hasn't chosen to learn CTE from Hal or from Stan and he is the expert on CTE??? Yeah sure, that's unbiased.

For the record, again on a whole, Patrick is one of the forum's most valuable contributers. I hope he stays around for a long time.

Agreed.

Ditto to you also Joey.

I think you are older than me; but even if you weren't, I would still respect you.
... although, I still might challenge some of your ideas and opinions at times.
... although, I think we usually agree on most things (especially the important ones).

Regards,
Dave

I didn't insinuate anything. I came right out and said that Hal sounds as nutty as if he took acid.

in despicable jest
Take a pill, Joey - there's nothing despicable about that jest. I took lots of acid forty years ago and don't consider it a blot on my character.

Oh yeah, and I hope you continue to post too.

A link to even one of those contributions would be illuminating.

As for elders...I have to admit to ambivalence about approaching my 60th birthday in a couple years. Am I still a boy in your estimation?

Oh, and contributions? I invented a microsurgery instrument specifically designed for surgeries on embryos the size of poppy seeds (i.e., around 1mm). I regularly create replacement parts for researchers all over the world who use it--that requires me to hand-solder platinum wire FIVE TEN-THOUSANDTHS of an inch in diameter under a microscope (on the scale of the thickness of spider web material-around 1/10th the thickness of a human hair). And even though I make significant bucks doing it, I make my real money elsewhere, and only do it to help colleagues perform critically important, cutting edge research.

Tell us about your contributions to humanity, JoeyA. Going to church and playing pool??

Intersting intensity of jest for someone who has not been around here for very long. Hal has long offered to teach people CTE for FREE. Show me anyone else giving that kind of offer for there area of expertise. He deserves some respect purely for his intentions.

The thread on Joey A trying the pro-one system started a long time ago in another thread like this. Joey A was chosen as Stan felt he would be a respected objective tester who was not strongly for or against CTE, so don't try to turn that into another ill intentioned thing. Try respecting others just a little befire slinging insults.

Wow ... you must be older than I thought. Maybe you deserve more respect too.

Regards, with respect,
Dave
