why did they change the rules

Hi,Lance Link.The handicap system is suposed to take your opponent's balls and use that toward your handicap.I don't understand it completley but our captain does.He says that it would be a good system for like a round robin or something like that.
What happens instead is when a good team beats a not so good team the not so good teams averages drop really low.Then the next team that has to play them has to spot them some ridiculuos amount.So the handicap system is what is really beating up good teams.
MY team played a team that we had to spot them 16 balls every round.The not so good team can make balls and some of them can run racks,but the team that played them the week before had a lot of big runs against them.SO when we missed,they would end up winning a game.We looked at the scoresheet at the end of the night and the handicap beat us every time.If the handicap wasn't so high,then maybe we would have had a chance.In a couple of rounds the not so good team beat us BEFORE the handicap.
I read your attachment.It does look similar to what my team has had to deal with.But I would rather not say where my league is if that's ok.I know there are people from the league I play in on here,and I would rather be anonymous.
I like playing in a league with a handicap but if there are two teams that are about the same speed then why is one team spotting them so many balls because a different team beat them last week?That's what I don't like about this new handicap.
They said it would get more people to play becuase it would be more fair for people that are not so good,but some of the people I know are not going to play in that league next year.So it really didn't help very much.Even if some teams join,some teams are leaving so they won't gain any more teams.

Welcome Bud. Same thing happened in Okla. Playing 10 for the win forever in a handicap system we were told was as close to perfect as could ever be! All of a sudden it wasn't PERFECT anymore?!?! LO says shouldn't matter, nothing will change. Well if it doesn't matter then why change? If it ain't broke don't fix it! He finally says it will help the weaker teams.
Changing in the middle of a session is insane! There is power in numbers and teams must challenge the LO. Pulling teams will hit his pocketbook. It's your league not his!

But if they start changing the rules midseason then no one will want to play anymore.
And when they made the changes,it was only like 4 or 5 people including the league director.THey never bothered to ask the other teams,they just changed it and the director told everyone this was the way it was going to be.
Like you said,Mr.Wiggles.If it ain't broke why fix it?Why change if it doesn't matter?

Up until this season, with the amount of teams being less than 16, all teams on that night went to playoffs (if there were 15 teams, first place got a bye the first week, etc.).
At a meeting held without all team representatives present (and they were never informed until AFTER the decision was made), it was determined that the top 6 teams would play (first & second place receive bye's).
My team and I signed up to play X weeks of regular season, and then playoffs. They changed the rules once the season started, and without obtaining 'buy-in' from all the teams involved.

This was the last season of play for me in that league. I'll find another league or just play in tournaments from now on.
