why do they say new meucci cues arent good?

A 'problem' like that is going to take several days to fix (if they do it wrong). If you are going to drive up there and stay, you'll have more into the hotel costs than the cue.

Look, we get it. You are excited about your new cue. You asked the question. You got knowledgeable answers. You have decided yours is a special case, for some reason.

Stop arguing with people about it. Stop telling us you and your cue are different. I hope they are, but we are at sixty replies on a subject that most of us know the answer to.

dld

I'm just slightly worried I might get screwed and be out of 340 bucks that's all

In my experience, and from listening to the others on this thread the trouble is not just with the wrap, but the finish in general. A friend from league had a meucci and it had finish problems galore and the shaft insert was so bad you almost couldn't put it together. This guy looked at my 95-7 and my teammates red dot 97-10 and couldn't believe they were made by the same people.
To KC, the originals were not the only good ones. They are just the best (IMO) the cues meucci made during that same time period are very nice cues.

To sum up, old meucci=good. New meucci= bad

To the OP, I hope you get a good cue, I really do. I hope you get to experience what a well made meucci feels like. Good luck bud. Let us know when you get it and how it all works out

I had a good one that I got from Bob's first catalog. I sold it when I got my Joss, long before Joss Cues LTD was around. I haven't really hit one since that I liked, personally. I bought one with a black dot shaft a few years back to compare it to other laminated low-deflection shafts and it was ok but not better than anything else I owned at the time so I sold it. I had a few in between the first one and the one with the black dot and had inlays coming through the finish in short order. I believe Bob's son-in-law was in charge for a while and the quality control was really bad.
If you like the cue, that's what is important but, to be honest, your money might be better spent elsewhere.

At least you only bought one Meucci....

I can put this thread to rest.

It will be fine. Your cue will be perfect. I know this because no bad cue has left the Meucci shop since Bob started making cues all those years ago. Anyone who says otherwise is a hater and lying to you.
Not only will your HOF-2 be a perfect physical specimen of what a cue should be, you will never miss a ball with it as this is how they are designed.

Congratulations on an excellent purchase.

Thread over.

I thought I'd add some pictures of my power piston cue. I forgot that I ripped off the leather wrap I installed to add another wrap. At the time I had forgotten the problems with the feel of the cue.. Lol, I forget quickly . When I removed the wrap suddenly the other problems came back on me. And I didn't even finish cleaning it up.The first picture shows the joint area. There should be a clean line here, but you can se that its not, because the joint has popped the finish.

The next picture shows the wrap area. The black gunk is glue/leather remnants from the wrap I removed and is not Meuccis fault. However notice how high up on the cue I had to cut the finish/black plastic off because of the cracking. The darker area is the forearm/wrap joint. The last picture is of the butcap area. Notice the plastic going into the cue. The cue has a plastic "stocking" wrapping it and plastic/air inside. No wonder it feels dead..

You really make me feel lucky. Mine is four years old and still in great shape.

when was that? late 70's?

Hell, I don't remember:rolleyes: According to the Blue Book, 2nd Edition, page 358, Level 2, MO-6. It says: "from Meucci's first catalog, circa 1975".
1976 or '77, maybe.
