I'm rather noobish to this site, but not to playing pool....This topic I'm sure has been touched on, but searching it didn't yield much result....so I'm going to ask it anyway.
I own and run a 100k+ member sports car site, and every person or group of people have their own reasons for modifying their cars in a certain way.....and differences in the way some mod their cars causes rifts between different 'classes' of members..some build them for track use, drag, looks/styling, handling, restoration/originality, dyno queens/high horsepower, etc.... After poking around here for a while, it seems many pool players are the same way, they each have their own reasons for being in the game....lets hear yours.
For me, in my younger days, I was just a pool hall rat...small stakes 9-ball games and occasionally a tournament. I have always loved the game, but didn't start really trying to learn the game until my later teens... Around 22 (18 years ago, I just rolled the big 4-0), life happened, became a family man, and pool faded into the sunset for me.... It's only recently I decided to get back into it, as the family man thing is about at an end (daughter will be finishing school and beginning her own life). Sadly, the one thing I've discovered is that pool is becoming a lost sport. Pool halls are almost non-existent anymore, which I find to be quite sad....but I still wanted to play, so I did a home setup, as I'm not a bar person, and I never really liked bar tables anyway....but the reason I play is just the fun and challenge of the game, whether I win or lose, its still fun, and there's always something to be learned. I have no desire to play professionally or in anything that would be considered 'high stakes'...but that's just me.
Whats say some of you?
