Why do you play so many short races in the US?

But isn't the fact that lots of people have a chance to cash directly rated to a decent turnout?

I have killed a more than a few weeklys by winnin them over and over again.

Nobody is gonna play week after week if is money waster.

That's just the problem. It's week after week and no one shows.

We have a weekly 8-ball/race to 3/$10 entry/$100 added tournament and it gets maybe 6-8 players on a good day. And that is on good equipment, in a nice location, so there is no excuse for blaming the venue.

Short races are 'ok' for tourneys, but that mentality has carred over to gamblin...and races are a terrible way to bet your money. Win a race 7-4, lose next race 7-6, you're 2 games up but even in money! Plus the fact that now players think playing 3-5 races to 7 is a 'long' session...its a joke.Try to gamble with someone now for $20-$50 a game playing 9 ball and they look at you like you're from another planet!...or , ask to play a freeze-out for $500-$1000....they think you're insane! I play races .......to 1...or 1 ahead. You're choice.

I rarely play tournies. I don't want to play for 8-12 hours and be at the PA system's call (32 players, double elim, race to 7 - meh). Just give me a good game and some action against a good sport.
