Why does Corey...

Cue up his chalk, instead of chalking up his cue? :D

Any other players chalk their cue in this strange manner lol?

actually I've tried the "Corey" method and it does keep your hand cleaner than the standard method. I also didn't notice any adverse affects, or mis-cues.

right now I'm going with the "snooker" chalking style....very stylish while not being as messy on the table or your hands!:D

Only Paul Newman. Of this I am quite sure.

actually i really don't like the snooker style - always seemed kind of contrived, almost smug to me.

interesting...didn't know there were "different" ways to chalk your cues haha, someone care to elaborate with details ?

Corey Deuel spins his cue into the chalk instead of scraping the chalk along the tip. That is what they're talking about, but I think he actually does a little of both.

He chalks like that because the fast twisting motion of the tip inside the cube of chalk creates enough static electricity to positively charge the tip which makes the chalk molecules cling to the tip itself. After speaking with a renowned physicist I have learned that the most effective way to chalk you cue is by placing the cube on the ground, inverting you stick, and rolling it back and forth between your hands... much like starting a campfire. You guys should give it a try, I haven't miscued in 4 years.

I do that too. Never really thought about it TBH.

I chalk that way too and some ppl call me a motorcyclist cus the motion looks like i am ramping a motorcycle.

But i dun think it is the better way to chalk the cue. If you use blue chalk on a brown tip, if you do the snooker way of sliding the chalk across the surface you will not see very much of the brown tip.

If you do the motorcycle way you will see patches of brown where there are very little or no chalk there.

Or maybe that is the whole idea? To have a very thin layer of chalk only on the tip?

Might i add, i think i chalk that way is because i started out playing pool without much coaching and influence. The closest i got to a pool educational video was "The color of Money" !

Darnit, you let the cat out of the bag. I may as well reveal my new (patent pending) invention now. It's a new generation of pool shoe! In a nutshell, the end of the toe has an extension with a chalker on it. This will save a lot of bending over as this new style of chalking takes over! We are already sponsoring Earl Strickland, as his ferrules are already ringed with blue.

You might be saying to yourself "So what, I can just bend over and pick up my chalk every time." And you're right. But you won't want to once you realize that the extended toe also helps you keep one foot on the floor for those hard to reach shots! So far, industry support has been great, and we're really looking forward to getting this out to the public!

Since we are getting into the highly technical aspects of billiards::D

Do you blow the excess chalk off the tip before bringing it over the table, thus limiting the amount of chalk that gets on to the cloth?

I can't believe you have revealed this secret. Cue makers all over the world have been trying to tell players that they need to buy their cues in order to play better. Now you've gone and told the whole internet that it's not which cue you use that makes you great, it's how you chalk it! You've done a huge dis-service to the entire billiard industry. Nobody is ever going to need to spend a few hundred on a new cue now. All they really need to be great is a well gouged out piece of chalk! Shame on you!!!! ;)
