Why doesn't AZ have a roadies/action section?

Sometimes I visit the southernbilliards.com forums and my favorite section, along with most others, is the roadies/action section. I was curious as to why AZ doesn't have one. While there are some posters that don't agree with gambling, (and I respect their opinion), there are others like me that like to post/read about matching up and war stories. It seems that alot of threads that get started in the main forum about gambling eventually turn into debates about the pros/cons of gambling. If there were a section devoted to action, the non-gambling posters of the main forum wouldn't have to be bothered about it. I thought it might be a good idea. What's your 2 cents?

I bet it doesn't happen.
Odds: 3-2

I won't take the bet at 3-2. If it did happen though, I bet it would have more posts than Ask a Mechanic, Room Owner Discussion, and Eurotour comined. I'll even spot you 4 Ask the Pros sections and lay you 4-1.:D

NO BET ! I don't gamble or drink.

(or swear or lie)

I'd take a piece of that action. than run to the other sections and post like there was no tomorrow :D

I'd deffinately be into a gambling section. I think it's time the pool world quits trying to hide the fact that pool and wagering are fraternal twins. If you don't like gambling, and you think it's wrecking the game, then don't participate....that simple! I know it's like talkiing about Religion, or politics, but all the great tourneys we watch that have a monetary prize are gambling no matter how you cut it. That section would out post all others combined in less then 3 months.....I bet!:D

I think the people that think gambling is wrecking the game haven't ever stayed past the last match in a tournament to watch an after-hours gambling session. The quality of play is as good, if not better than tournament play. Another thing I like is that players get a chance to show their heart in a gambling match. I'd rather sweat a 10-ahead set for 5,000 than watch any race to 7 DCC tournament match.

I would read it, and think it could be a place for some people to share their short stories.

I think some people shy away from it on these forums due to the flame wars, and the he said/she said debates, not to mention that most stirring of action never happens.

Other message boards that had tons of this type stuff have went by the wayside: playpool.com as an example.

I definately support this idea if it goes anywhere.. There's alot of sections of this board that are more or less just taking up space. Why not flip one of them up to an "action" spot just to see how it does?

(Incidentally this thread actually brightened my otherwise miserable day :D) Thanks for the humour guys.

Roadies Gallery

Sounds like a great idea to me. That's what I think of as pool talk, anyway. And if anybody comes into contact with a roadie we might not be familiar with, they can snap a picture with their cell and post it someplace so we can be on the lookout for him... or her. LOL

Firstly, you need to define roadies.
Secondly, they don't want to be known.
Lastly, not many exist anymore.

change would be great

i think with as many post as there are in az they should have more sections for someone to pinpoint intrests.also when someone post something they want to read what people have replied it would be alot easier if its not already 10 pages back.maybe this is something the az people will look at and change.

I stated roadies/action section because that is the title southernbilliards.com uses. The point of the section wouldn't be to i.d. road players and knock action, it would be to share info about various matchups across the country for those that had financial interest or were just curious. I think it would be a great place to also share personal stories about gambling, many of which people enjoy reading (especially from Freddy:D ). I posted a poll to see what the majority of the board thought. Feel free to vote and make your opinion heard.

new section neeeded

i just get tired of scanning through titles like why's the cue ball white, happy birthday, will walking hurt your game, of course i'm blowing that a little out of poportion but seriously i think with as many people that r on this forum it is needed.

Roadie: Anyone on the road looking to score through gambling on pool.

Staying unknown: It's a new world with new ways to communicate. Anyone looking to wager on pool should expect that they are going to be outed as to their looks and relative speed. IF they do their job right everyone will have them clocked far below their best game.

Existence: I'd have to agree. The nut is too tough on the road these days. A stranger in a pool room these days is assumed to be a world champion. I think this story illustrates though the right attitude about being on the road;

Allen Hopkins told me this one.

Allen went out on a road trip with a friend who was rather green to the road. One night Allen starts a game for $5 a game and ends up winning $5000. The next night they are in a different pool room and Allen again starts another game for $5. The road partner asks Allen why he is playing so cheap after they just won 5 large the day before. Allen replied, "we haven't made the room rent today."

Too many people want to be anonymous and just woof. Dogs without any teeth.

Tom (OHB) didn't need a "special' place to share his adventures. If someone has a great story or exploit or beating they took, people listen.

Got a special story?
Share it. You might find someone appreciates it.
