Why don't you use Curly Koa?

I've done some decent searches online for cues with Curly Hawaiian Koa and have only found maybe 3-4 cues with koa in them. I was wondering why it's not more widely used in cues? I just had a cue built with it and really like the figuring.

Thanks,
Curtis

Because they are hard to find and cost a ton.
I have one board. It's still relatively wet.
Curly mangos are available too but cost a ton as well.

The Koa is usually not Kiln dried for some reason and most cuemakers don't want to wait years for their wood to dry. A guy from Hawaii sent me some years ago and it took a few years for it to dry enough to use. It really is pretty.

:D. It's not the best Koa on the planet but I now feel somewhat special.

Cost a ton? A ton of what? What am I going to pay you with? You know shipping to US is expensive, especially when it weighs a ton.. :p

Curly Koa

This is pic of my PFD cue, I had it refinished at Proficient Billiards, and Scot's work was terrific as usual.

As far as the cue goes, Paul brought the wood back from Hawaii. I giggle as he told me he brought back 70 pounds of Koa as carry on. He mentioned he couldnt get this good of wood without going there. I dont know, but this is what he said.
