Did I miss something? Is there a reason why Earl is not in the on going UPA championship?

I believe that Earl said something like, "This UPA is a load of horsepuckie," and Charlie Williams said something like, "I accept your resignation."

Many feel it is ridiculous for the nominal pro organization to not include someone who is held to be clearly in the top five.

well it only makes sense, if earl doesn't want to be in the UPA, or follow the rules, he doesn't play in the UPA events. not taking sides here, earl plays jam up, and the UPA is a decent organization, heading in the right direction i think. its just a matter of conflicting views. i think its a win win situation, the UPA gets earls name on the flyer as a player to attract audience, and earl gets to play in one of the higher paying tournaments. hopefully soon, they will settle the differences and both parties will be happy.

thanks

From a different point of veiw;

The UPA won't allow Earl to play in their events. Earl is not a current member of the UPA.

Hi, Tom! :) Earl Strickland competed at the UPA-sanctioned event, Amberbock World Summit of Pool held in Grand Central Station in New York City, which was restricted to UPA members only at the time of the U.S. Open, several weeks before the event. I found out later that The Pearl was granted a "UPA wild card."

Jenn,

I also heard that Amberbrock and the promoters wanted Earl in the tournament and told the UPA they didn't have much choice but to grant Earl an 'invite'

Just a different way of looking at 'why' Earl was in attendance.
