Why is my Paypal barred?

Dear all,

i got my paypal barred today. Paypal did not specified why and requested that i send over my passport, credit card info, identity card to reinstate my acc... Has anyone came across this before?

This comes at a time when i just sold a Scruggs cue and a Southwest cue. All in all ard 3000+ usd was trapped.

I have had this also. They suspended my account because large sums of money had gone through there, all to do with cue purchases or sales. Apparently when it gets to a certain value through the account, they suspend it pending you answering their questions on what the money is and how it got there. Its a way of detecting money laundering. Paypal has been used in this fashion so they check people at random. It was re-instated a few days later after I rang them.

This may be a legit thing, but just a word of caution... when i was laid up in january and sold a bunch of cues and bought some stuff <as i had nothin' better to do from my bed>, i started getting phoney paypal emails saying they suspended, limited or something to my account... i actually posted one here that the email was so bad with all it's mis-spelling etc..... never click on the links from these emails.... just goto your account and access it the way you normally do! It could be a trap.... now if this is all legit, i don't know why. I never have had it happen. I did many thousands of bucks through paypal just in the month of January. Just be careful Raist. Change your paypal password constantly and never click a supposed paypal email.... <i also have been getting ebay 'question for seller' type phoney emails too!!>

now you went to your account<accessed the way you normally do> and it really is suspended and they won't let you access your cash?

i had to stop my tascarella auction, and seems like my ebay books auction wil be a mess now.. Urgh!!

yeah i cant access the cash. they asked for me to got to get it resolved by faxing over my driving license, Identity card and Passport

I would contact Paypal directly. You may have gotten another scam Email. These crooks probably seen that you have some high dollar items for sale and sent this bogus message hoping you will bite.

I don't get any of that phony stuff until I place a bid and then I notice that I get a lot of attention from those scammers.

Paypal claims that it never asks for personal information. I changed a password and there were all kinds of bells and whistles to go thru. Had to type in a code, answer a Email, make a phone call, enter another password and then confirm another phone call.

Raist; I think someone is trying to F@#K you without a reach around.

I just got done posting here and got a Email from "Paypal" about illegal activity. It is amazing because I just won a item from BeBob publishing and instead of paying thru Paypal I was able to pick it up direct.


If you don't trust that Info. (I could be a scammer) go into your Ebay and there are links there for security. Just do a little surfing there and you will come across that link. Never use a link that comes in your Email

Here is the Email that I received from "Paypal". Notice that the word choice and temporarily are misspelled. Another way to detect that it is phony is Paypal will use you real name and not Dear Paypal customer or member etc

I also ...

Received what looked like an official letter from Paypal about my account.
Everything looked kosher in it, there was just 1 problem, my Paypal account is under a different email address than the one they sent the letter to.
I did nothing, but delete it, and my account has been fine.

As some may know i got caught with an illness and in april time i thought i may not survive that trip to hospital i asked my fren to sell my cues..

Anyway he abused my account and my paypal account and becos of countless chargebacks i got my Paypal account suspended...

Fast forward in Sep i felt better, so started a new paypal acc, buy sell some cues and make myself happy.... but think that thru my credit card they managed to link my old acc to this new one...

So last week i sold a SW and a TS... and with 3100 in the paypal acc, paypal suspended my account.. and demanded i pay them what the old acc owed..

Now i in deep shit.. i get no money... and i cant access the paypal.

i cant access the old account either as the password changed by that chap that used my account...and the operator is adamant that i try "recall" my password and ID...

if i listen earlier and draw the money asap then this wouldnt have happen...

What to do now.. one of the buyer is Bobby Petris who bought a TS...the other fellow is a fellow AZer from Hawaii..

i asked them to do a chargeback on my paypal... hope it works.

i am no scammer, and had never deliberately con anyone in my life.. why does this happen to me. Its 3100 usd... quite a bit of money..i dunno what to do now.

Hi Simon.

the mottey u now owned, which previously was mine, which then was previously yours haha. I started using it seriously in 2003 i remembered, and for a period of six months, i NEVER lost a single money game, considering i play money games every single night. I was stopped by Cancer eventually, when the pain in my pelvic area got too bad and i pretty much didnt play many pool then..
i hope u own the cue forever... its the 2 BEST cue i ever had, and if it not for the fact i can no longer play pool, and the fact that the sight of the cue reminded me of a former fren who used this very cue to swindle Chris Grader (bogey54311) of his money, i would have carry it to my grave..

So this cue has a pretty eventful story after it left ur hands.. u would have thought u seen it a couple of times in ebay .. :)

I had this happened to me cause people bought stuff with stolen accounts.
It will be very hard for you to keep another paypal act. They probably linked you through your ebay act. Thats how they got me when I opened my second acct. they waited for a big sale and froze me.
I had to pay the debt on the other act. and I was back selling. I had different bank home address and phone #. So if you are going to make a second acct. make sure all that stuff is changed and a make a new act at ebay. than maybe you might get away with it. The also check mac address and ips so you might need to change that also. I also wanted to buy that SW but saw your ebay feedback and got scared. I am glad I know why your feedback is how it is now.

OH SHIT HERE WE GO AGAIN!
So now 2 people who purchased cues from you are screwed and they sent you payment and if they cant get there charge backs your not going to ship them there rightfully purchased cues. Just MO Raist,but they shouldn't be the ones to pay for your past problems, If you owed paypal 3100 or more from that past scam,well this one might just totally make you enter the witness protection program !:D Rule number one:NEVER send money overseas without using escrow for a cue. Things like this always make me remember rule number one because I was going to bid on that tascarella!!:o

Ebay/Paypal may or may not allow the two people to get their money refunded. If they allow it, I bet it takes a while.

Either way they are going to be pissed, but REAL pissed if they don't get the money back or the stick they payed for.

That is true! Looks like he try to cheat people again! He got his ebay account locked once now he back!

If your customers paid through Paypal with a credit card then Paypal will get charge back from the credit card co. The customers won't lose their money but if the money was deducted from their a bank account then it's going to be a big problem.
 
This really makes one worry about using paypal. Since Payal has seized the money and if the cues havn't or dont get shipped it seems the real loser here will be the buyer's.

Don't take this wrong Raist i am not saying you arent going to ship the items in fact hopefully you have already shipped the cue. I have had one positive transaction with you and you seem to be stand up guy.

I dont think he was trying to say he wouldnt send the cues to the people who payed ,just merely trying to have them try to get there money back so paypal doesnt keep it on him or whatever they are trying to do to him...... Raist is top notch for sure .....

Basically,IMO, Paypal has siezed what they feel raist owes them,they havent siezed money from the 2 buyers. Raist should have paided back paypal,instead,he tried to change his identity and become someone else and hope paypal wouldnt catch up with him. The 2 buyers will go thru the charge back process but even paypal warns you that overseas transactions are not guareenteed by any of there policy's and your on your own when using paypal to foreign country's .They may or may not get there money and it will take months to decide.Like I said,I hope this works out for all parties,but dont you find this alittle suspious happpening again.Here's some quotes from his post
