Why isn't anybody mad about the WPC?

Firstly what is it that the WPA actually do? There’s so many issues it’s beyond belief. I could understand the event being held in Qatar if the prize money was substantial but it’s not. The WPA seems anything but a professional organisation.

How is the winner of the Women’s World 9 ball getting more than the men’s? The website/info about many tournaments is non existent. Where’s the marketing? It’s so amateur. Basically they put their name/accreditation towards events they have very little involvement in.

Darts was in a similar position in the early 90s, tournaments and TV coverage dwindled and prize money was less accordingly. So most of the established top players broke away and backed a new organisation which after a while Barry Hearn/Matchroom purchased and there’s so much money in the game now.

Arena’s are packed out, sponsors are queuing up and darts is on TV 30+ weeks of the year with huge viewership. Now darts was only popular in the U.K. and Holland but is just as popular in Germany and many more countries that they have a World Series ranging from NYC to Shanghai to Sydney. Imagine the Mosconi Cup atmosphere every tournament?!

My point is pool is a truly global game and in this day and age should have some sort of presence but it’s like stuck in the 80s and nothing’s going to change with the current WPA hierarchy in charge. They are doing the bare minimum and don’t have the desire or idea to do otherwise.

I'm sure this is exactly the case, and it's why I roll my eyes every time I see someone spout the "There's corn hole/axe throwing on ESPN but not pool!!!! What the hell??" argument. Those things aren't on there because they are so popular and draw tons of spectators. They are on there because someone is buying the air time to promote something.

If I'm Matchroom or any pool organization I try to get a couple of hours of the Mosconi Cup televised on the day that ESPN airs The Ocho. Maybe it generates some eyes.
