Ok, we have the super shots thread going fairly well....and I never got any rep for that mind you (hint hint) hehe!! How about now we show some shots where the Gods were letting you know who was in control. hehe!!

This one is actually the turning point in my manners at the table. In a previous match I had a similar shot to this and when I sliced the 9 in I came across and scratched in the side. Fair enough, not an unlikely event. Next match the shot comes up again, this time I tell myself that I need to put a little more on it to bring it past the side pocket. I hit it perfectly, it came above the side pocket and was trickling out to the middle of the table. I was so glad that I missed the side that I picked the cue ball up before it stopped moving. My opponent, B class player, called foul. The people sitting around watching couldn't believe he called that foul considering the ball had absolutely zero chance of scratching. But, rules are rules. I never recovered from that call and lost the match. I was so hopping mad I broke my cue down and forfeited the rest of my matches and went home. I learned a lot that day.

Worst part is that the ball would have stopped moving had I waited another second. There was no chance whatsoever that it could have scratched. You can imagine how hot I was. The people standing around couldn't believe it either.

I too would have never called that foul either, but playing in AZB's favorite league (APA)...lol, I have gotten used to people acting like children and calling ridiculous fouls just to save their asses. As of now I wont even pick up an obvious ball in hand unless I hear it acknowledged from my opponent first.
 
I never would call a foul. By the way, I always shoot this shot with inside english and the side pocket never comes into play.
 
I've done this a couple of times. Most people know that it's a pretty easy pocket on the 9, but none the less, it's always impressive when done in a match. Problem is, the scratch is always a danger. It's one of those "hell of a shot dude, bummer roll."

go ahead and slam the APA for that foul. I've seen it called many times by players outside the APA. The leagues have nothing to do with poor sportsmanship. Whiners are whiners.

This very shot came up twice in the past two weeks for me. And yes, I scratched BOTH times after spinning the object ball in. But....you've got to spin it in and....you've got to hit it hard enough to make the pocket. It's do-or-die in that situation.

8 Ball league match, I'm solids. I ran down to the 8, but shorted myself for position in the side. I had a very thin cut, but the scratch was protected since the top right pocket was completely barricaded by stripes ... Or so I thought. Made the 8, and then went kiss-rail-kiss for the scratch and the loss. My opponent didn't even get out of his chair to win that one.

Since I'm the only one who mentioned the APA I guess this is directed at me. I'm not trying to "slam" the APA. It's the only league I've ever played in. However, there is far more controversy IMO started up by the APA players either not understanding the rules or just plain making up the rules in their own heads. The consumption of alcohol by the so called "whiners" has a lot to do with that as well.
I love the APA and will always do so. :)
 
I've seen that happen twice. Once to a friend of mine, and once to myself. You pick up the cue ball and start getting ready for the next rack. Your opponent calls foul claiming that is 'was going to scratch in the corner' or whatever when it obviously wasn't. It's a cowardly move because they are desperate to win and know they can't any other way. These people have no integrity. :angry:

Unlike your situation though, sometimes when someone tries to pull some shi7 like that on me it pisses me off so much that it flips a switch and I start shooting lights out. I proceeded to destroy him for the next 4 racks winning 4-1, but really it was 5-0.

Oh yeah, and all of this happened in APA. :thumbup:
 
I wouldn't call that foul but I also see no reason to touch the CB until my break stick is in my hand.
 
Most recent stupid move

My most recent stupid move was classic. 8 ball tourny. Hill-Hill, my break. Tables are breaking bad and I know that. I am blasting the rack as hard as I can and playing the second ball break trying to keep the cue ball on the table and get some movement. I am losing position control of the cue ball every break.

So I break and make the 8. The cue ball is in a bad spot. I have the option to re-break or spot the 8 and take the table as it lies. The 8 is not a win. I decide to re-break. DUMB. Balls wide open, nothing falls, opponent runs out. I knew he could get out on an open table, I knew the tables were breaking bad, I knew I had control of the table. This was in the finals of the tourny and the callcutta money and tourny money made the difference between first and second around 250 dollars. I'm sure the money was on my mind and I wanted to get out of the rack.

I was a fool.... oh well, live and learn.

WEll, I had been destroying him up to that point. He got me so hot that I said to myself that I was going to BBQ him for the rest of the set. But I was so pissed off and focusing on my anger towards him that I just couldn't get back in stroke after that.

Again, a learning day for me that day. Since that day I never touch the cue ball until all the balls are racked and I walk to the table to break. I also learned that I needed to control my anger because that is exactly what took me out. In some ways I thank that douchebag.
