Why no senior tour?

From the turnout this year for the senior masters at Miseraks I don`t understand why some industrious person hasn`t started a tour for seniors (50+) years. Miserak had some success with this several years ago but his declining health has put a damper on a full blown effort. Please add your thoughts.

That is a good question ...

Being in that bracket, I would be interested in that
subject myself, but I do understand that when you
get to be late 50's or early 60's, your desire seems
to wane a little, especially to travel far for a tournament.

I am 53 myself and watched a senior tournament recently at Babineaus in Cary NC. Jack Stenner a former pro was playing another fellow and two guys in there 20's in front of me were watching. Jack was running some balls when one of the kids says to his friend,"Jesus these old guys are good!" Made me laugh all the way home. I do think as you get into your 50's you are so busy with family, career and life it is hard to commit the time needed to play at the level you feel is necessary to be competitive. Personally I'm lucky to play 10 hours a week.

I understand, I also am in that group (55). But possibly a regional tour SE,NE,MW and WEST with a point system so qualifiers could advance to a year end championship. Just thoughts, but I would participate

If it was done regionally like you suggest, I would be up for it. I would have been at Babineau's but I had another tournament to run in Charlotte that day. I already told Paul I would be there next year.

Keep this thread going

I believe its worthwhile to keep this thread going. Some of you seniors out there please help. There are a lot of great senior players out there who would rather compete against players with their same energy level. If we didn`t tire so easily the young-uns would be in trouble.

I know when Paul Babineau had his senior event earlier this month, there were no matches starting after 9PM. I know that I personally run out of steam if I am still playing real late at night, or early morning. I suspect there are others in the same boat.
I ain't as good as I once was, but I'm as good once as I ever was!

Any tour, or even National amateur tournaments, that schedule
matches BEFORE 10 a.m in the morning needs to be shot, IMO.
That just goes against a Poolplayers nature. I can go late at
night matches without a problem. Even noon matches are not
always welcome, especially after playing on a Friday and Saturday,
and coming around to Sunday. One other thing I do not like,
when the TD drags the matches out on a Sunday night when
they could have finished them 3 hours earlier. Playing past pros
on a senior tour would be okay sometimes, but I think amateur
seniors tour would go over more on a normal basis.

im retired and would love to play in a seniors event 5-6 times a yr! it is getting harder to play with the young guys and win! i play in mizs senior masters and love it....hell any one can have a chance to at least win a couple rounds....so if anyone knows about a senior event....let me know...ill be there!:D

In road racing they have age groups, maybe that's something tournaments could do to get more seniors to sign up. By the way, it isn't too late to improve your indurance. Buy a pair of running shoes and hit the road Jack.

Jack didn't play at this year's Senior Open. Perhaps you're thinking of Frank Tullos (also a former pro)?

BTW, Frank did win the tournament, with Leroy Bryant coming in 2nd. Barry Cooper placed 3rd, and won the bonus for best finish by a player 60+.

old man's tour

I was the equipment coordinater for both the MEN'S PRO TOUR, AND MIZERAKS TOUR. Miz, is saving money having his tour at his pool room. Renting hotel ball rooms and travel for table people, ect, gets costly.
Miz 's tour in sponcered by the Semnio tribe in fl.
