Why does the WPBA only hold it's tournaments in Casino venues? There are plenty of nice large poolrooms across the US that could be used.
 
dont know, but whatever theyre doing theyre doing it right. Now if only the men could do the same. Tired of wpba matches on tv everyday, but no mens matches.
 
The WPBA charges a pretty hefty fee to host an event (I believe about 10 grand). Most poolrooms could not afford it. Amsterdam Billiards, when they had the upper east side room hosted a couple of WPBA events but they were pretty much the exception.
 
You have to pay the WPBA a fee in order to hold a tournament. I THINK that the fee is $50K. Even if half that, a pool room has a hardtime overcoming it. A Casino which continues to get "free advertising" for years via the ESPN repeats can justify the fee.

The biggest reason might be a lack of brand new tables and ball sets manufactured by whichever table and ball manufacturers are that year's table/ball sponsors.

In addition, few pool halls would have the ceiling height required to accommodate the overhead camera and lighting support.

Finally, when the tournament gets down to the finals, few, if any, pool room owners would be willing to move as many tables as would be required to create seating for a couple hundred people.
