Why not make the old rubber profiles?

Call me crazy, but with the amount of old brunswicks and the like why don't the major company's just make the old rubber profile ....

i would hazard a guess and say that 50% of old gold crowns have the wrong rubber on them.

the only solution is to have the subrails modified ....this is obviously ideal for many reasons. However with the advancements in modern rubber and the like I bet that the old profile would play pretty well if they were artemis ....

I know everyone wants to modify the subrails etc and make the table play right with modern rubber profiles ...but really how many people even know about this? ....there is probably a question about this every two days or more and the sad realization comes when they find that they have to lay down a grand to make it play like a diamond doesn't sit very well with most.

I also think it's pretty sad that Brunswick themselves abandoned their older tables like that by not making rubber that fits properly.

anyway ....that's all i have to say .

I do like your path of thinking,
I dont know what streamlined the brunswick gum rubber cushions out , I have seen cushions on import tables new and old that have cushions profile that is no standard cushion on any planet. I have seen some really funny looking cushions on the brunswick pressboard rail tables that they sold as "quality built tables".
China will make any cushion you need. Just be prepared to buy in bulk. Buy low and sell high.

You make some good points.....not 100% sure in this answer....(my thoughts)....the manufactures don't want to make cushions to fit older tables......they want to sell new....if the cushions are not the right ones for the tables.....people put them on and the players are not happy with the play of the table......so they sell the table, buy a new one.
Brunswick at one time marked their tables to be burned.....when traded in for new.....they want to sell new tables.....not repair or up date old ones.

I'm sure brunswick as well as other manufacturing company's of tables.......don't like what I'm doing with the old tables and rails.

Trust me...I'm not putting anyone out of business.....but I'm sure...if I wasn't doing rail work on older tables......they would be buying a new one from some manufacture.

The price to get the rails done sounds high to some.....but you can't buy a table that plays any better for the price of the rail work.

The rails are everything on a pool table.....even a out of level table plays ok with great rails.

amen.
or, someone should step up and produce top quality cushion to fit any common subrail profile. ;) its rubber, not titanium.

.......

amen.
see previous response.

yeah, me too.

i e-mailed artemis ....no response ....

not really surprised .....maybe it will take them some time to translate the e-mail.

I just think that pool table rubber is such a small insignificant part of artemis that they could care less .....
