99% of us on here play to beat our buddy's, win league, or a tourney not to be on a pro tour that does not currently exist. And yet table installers argue with do it yourselfers and at times the instructors seem like an infomercial on why you can only learn from them. The hitting balls and playing games isn't practice argument inserted here.
A lot of people use this site for information to improve something while others use this site just to bs with like minded individuals who love the games of pool. So many people criticize each other on here, if the corners on your table has a wrinkle you suck, if you can't run 5 racks of 9ball you suck. People it's a game!!!!! We all have day jobs! Why take it so seriously? What im I missing?

Why post this here instead of the main forum? Over there, you start a thread bashing table mechanics, then complain here when you got slammed back.

You want to just play for fun? That's perfectly fine. Have at it. But why complain about threads that are for those that do take the game seriously and seriously want to improve? For many, it is much more than a game. It is a journey. Who are you that you feel you are qualified to tell us we shouldn't be on that journey??

It's up to the individual to consider pool as a game or as a sport based on his/her own goals and expectations. In general, "game" is more about luck whereas sport is about skill and consistency.

Writers: People who are active on forums on any/every hobby are more serious about it than casual fans.

Instructors: So few players (per capita) take lessons that instructors are passionate to teach those willing to learn.

I agree that sometimes conflict is unnecessary and it's nothing more that people with defective personalities going off on each other.

But there are times when conflict is a good thing, particularly when it exposes the frauds who post as if they are experts. If you followed the advice of some people who post here claiming to be experts, or even just those who want to offer helpful advice, it could set you back eons. When a post like that pops up, you'd better hope that someone steps up and objects, or your game is going to be in a boatload of trouble if you don't know any better.

Because it is not a one-size-fits-all world and everyone is not going to conform to what you think they should be, whether it is people looking to improve their game or people who are willing to pay a few bucks so their table plays properly.

In what way does it hurt you if people try to improve or if someone doesn't want to (and/or doesn't have the skills to) do their own table mechanic work? It doesn't hurt you at all, or even affect you in any way, yet you feel the need to scold people about it and insult them. It must really suck, for you that the whole world doesn't conform itself to your expectations.

Many folks take their hobbies or pastimes very seriously. Pool is no different than golf, or chess, or stamp collecting, or fishing, hot rods, or any of thousands of pastimes that people take part in. There is a drive in many folks to strive for excellence, to be the best they can at whatever it is that they are doing.

Its great if you don't take things too seriously, if that works for you. Many folks will look at it another way. It shouldn't offend you, not to the level that it appears to have...
