Wife Wants NEW Carpet Laid In The Pool Room

The wife wants new carpet laid in the family room...which contains my beloved 9 Foot Diamond Professional Table. Money is a little tight right now so I'd like to take the path of least resisitence AND least expense. Some elsewhere have suggested "picking" up the table for a second, just long enough to roll the carpet underneath it. I can't eve begin imagine that's acceptable. I was thinking of finding a talented enough carpet installer to simply install around it. The wife is OK with any visual imperfections that might cause.

any good carpet layer should be able to do this. My buddy has a carpet laying business and i've helped him out a few times with carpet in rec rooms. I'm not sure what their called, but they have dollys specifically for moving tables that jack the table up and have wheels on it. Theirs a bar in town here that has one because it moves the pool table when they have bands come in. We "rented" it from them. I'd check your local pool hall if they know where you could get one to use.

That is incorrect. A table jack can be used for moving three piece slate tables by simply using a few 4x4's to extend the base of the cart. I move 3 piece slate tables all the time in my showroom using the cart.

I worked in the Plant Engineering Dept and we lived by the motto: if it isn't broke don't fix it. Leave it as is. That is the least expensive and least resistant.

Why spend money on something that will only be walked on? Get a carpet cleaner and clean it.

Or maybe since it is the beloved Diamond me thinks you are the one that wants it changed and you are blaming it on your wife. :yeah::shrug: Can't believe your wife would want to redo your room.
