Will the IPT players trust KT to pay the Chicago prizes?

If somehow KT makes the Reno payments and declares that the Chicago tournament will take place, what do you think will happen with respect to the Chicago payments? Probably the same as with Reno.

Do players that already spent several thousand dollars in expenses for Reno and are owed and paid $5K or $7K, now pay the additional expenses to travel and stay in Chicago without any guarantee of getting paid for that tournament?

What kind of a player turnout would you expect? I can't imagine many actually showing up.

How can KT ever be trusted again? I think that you'd have to be brain-dead to expose yourself to the same BU-L SH-T again.

Why would you not show up? You make some costs yes but they are not incredible high. And if he does pay you, you could get a lot of money. If he does not pay out, all you lost is the cost of getting there. Seems like bet most people especialy pool players would be willing to make....

The only way I see anyone showing up for Chicago is
1. The players get the Reno checks in time to make travel arrangements,
or
2. KT promises to hand out the Reno checks in Chicago and there are enough players that are willing to gamble that he isn't lying.

Oh gee, with the e-mail from KT, and people still looking forward to Chicago, it now looks like everyone will sit on their hands for another 46 days.

You ask, "How can KT ever be trusted again?" Are you telling me that people trusted him in the first place? With all the information that was known about him? Or did everyone just ride the money train and hope they could jump off before the crash.

The clue to jump off was when nobody showed up for the Vegas event.

You have to admit, it was a wild ride.

Now it is time for all the pool players to give it up and go find another sucker. KT is wise to you people.

Jake, the man makes his living getting thousands of people to believe that they will grow hair and cure cancer, yes, the players did trust him, and some still do.

They believed the $100K guarantee, the benefits, stock options and even that they would become international celebrities.

And I'll bet that he'll convince enough players to show up in Chicago whether he pays them for Reno or not.

Side bet - he'll stiff them again.

Kevin is good but he is not that good. Surely, no one will be dumb enough to still plan for Chicago. Even if they get paid for Reno. Please tell me pool players are not that dumb.

Then again a lot of churches are filled to the rafters with people who believe in those so called "faith healers". Even after they are exposed on TV. People believe, because they have to.

At least this deal cost KT a whole lot of his own money. I wonder if that watch and ring he wears is really his, or he just rents it. Maybe that guy who follows him around all over is not really his body guard but actually guarding the watch and ring which belongs to a jeweler and KT is just renting it.

Hey Jake, I'm beginning to see that you are siding with me against the IPT. You have found the guiding light! Welcome aboard!

Many of us are distressed by what has transpired with the IPT. I don't think many are "against the IPT" the way you have been from the beginning. I think a lot of us would like to see some form of the IPT continue, even if it's on a smaller scale. I think you have failed to recognize that even if the IPT folds tomorrow, they have still paid out more money to pool players in their short existance, than any other tour.

While their recent activities are highly questionable, not everything about the IPT has been bad.

"highly questionable" isn't my choice of verbiage to explain the IPT and their actions. One of the reasons I've used stronger terminology is because of how arrogant they've been from day one and as recently as the latest InsidePOOL article with Deno.

I do totally agree with you in that "not everything about the IPT has been bad". When the IPT was paying, some of the players made more money than they probably ever would have and some of these guys have been able to change their lives and lifestyle (if they were smart with the money) for the better. The players were also able to enjoy the finer side of life and being treated like stars (albeit only a couple of times)... the magnificent venues, their own private green room with nice amenities, meeting and mingling with a few sports & tv stars.... It also gave a lot of players a renewed thrill of the game and those that had all but stopped playing or practicing, started practicing and getting in shape. Look at Varner... if nothing else, he's a healthier man today than he was a yr ago. :)

Well of course I now think it is dead in the water.

People here made the wrong assumption that since I liked the IPT I also liked Kevin. Not true. I believe I have mentioned that I never trust someone who has a smile on his face and looks me in the eyes. My first thought is how is he conning me.

Anyway, even though I thought the IPT was great, right up to 31 days ago, I couldn't figure out his business plan. How was he going to generate money? Evidently he must have counted on revenue from TV and that didn't materialize. He finally saw the writing on the walls and decided to cut his losses and close up shop.

But what is he waiting for now? Why doesn't he announce that he failed and it is over?

I wonder if Deno realizes that KT does not need him anymore and he will be fired. No need to pay his salary if the company is defunct.

Based on the timeliness and quality of communication from the ITP is it possible that DA has been sh-tcanned and just doesn't know it?

Any guess how many the IPT does/did employ?

Steve, I have always criticized the IPT as an organization that was doomed to failure from the start. I don't know where you get the idea that I have failed to recognize the money provided to players. Two separate things, my friend.

Oh, and in addition, the IPT would also be the organization that stiffed players out of 3 million dollars....More money than all the pool players combined, that have not received their money from other tournaments or organizations.....

Call me crazy, but I think alot of the midwest and even east coast players will show. The reason being...they can drive to Chicago. They will have more freedom to drive home whenever they want. No airfare. I think the risk-reward will make it worth their while.
