Will the lack of nicotine hurt or help my game?

Screw the game. your health is more important than playing good pool. Look at Steve Jobs. Take your time and let your body and mind adjust to not be addicted to the most powerful addicting substance in the universe. Get some gum, non nicotine. Good luck.:D

It hasn't affected my game. Then again I wasn't a regular smoke to begin with (it takes me a couple of weeks to finish off one pack). I just decided to drop it all together as I also go to the gym and it started to affect my ability to run. Your lungs will thank you for quitting.

hey, "8up".....i can't think of a reason to quit either.....what is your price by the tub? i'll be within a couple of hours from tenn in 2 weeks!

I smoked for about 25 years. Tried about everything to give up (cold turkey, cutting down real slow, nicotine patches/gum/inhalers etc). But in the end I managed it (quite easily). PM me for details

PS like another poster said, one of the best things I ever did. Don't miss it at all.

its like $10.85 a tub of chew. One can has the nicotine of 3 packs of smokes so reasoning says its 3 times harder to quit chewing versus smoking. So once I have quit for a while I can jump all over family to quit smoking lol

One month into my last serious attempt at quitting, I was pulled over by an Illinois patrolman for speeding. He looked at me, then inquired as to whether I had been drinking or was on drugs of some sort. I said, "No, I'm trying to quit smoking." He nodded his head as if he understood and said, "Maybe I had better follow you home."

I must have one of the worst addiction cases in the world when it comes to smoking. I've given up hope of ridding myself of the things. Better to smoke than became someone that walks on the slippery edge of insanity. It isn't just a mental thing as some seem to think. The physical symptoms are terrible.

Playing good pool while trying to quit smoking is impossible for me.

It may help my game because my breathing can be more natural instead of half holding it when needing to spit.

What? I don't spit, I swallow.
Oh man, I can't believe I just typed that. I guess that makes me a Catcher.

Yeah, I have been chewing for quite a few years. Good luck with quitting as I believe chew is more addictive than smoking.
Up here in Canada we have a Health food store called Old Fashioned Foods.

They sell an organic non tobacco chew. I have tried it and truthfully not half bad. I chew Skoal Wintergreen and don't really care for the other artificial flavors. Some of the organic chews can be a bit sickingly sweet for my taste but you might find one that suits your pallet.

It might help you get over the withdrawal period never the less.

Here is an example of some of the products that might be available in your neck of the woods.

Over 20 bucks here for a large tub of chew. It is approx a bit over 2 times the size of a small tub. The small ones are getting harder to find.
I wake up in the morning and can do with out a smoke with my coffee but don't get in between me and my can or you will die.

Here is a nice little tip that will give you the ability to continue doing what you are used to without going back to rubbing.

Get yourself a can of the shredded beef jerky. Throw one in just like a rub and you dont have to worry about spitting. You will have that familiar feeling and it might just trick your brain into thinking its the same thing. Plus, you have the bonus of enjoying some beef jerky.

It sounds dumb, but thats how i quit rubbing (Not really quit, but went from 2-3 cans a day to 1 every couple weeks) and I started at age 11(I'm 29 now and have been at 1 can every 2-3 weeks for the last 2 years). It wouldnt hurt to try. Good luck!

It may do better to quit the smoking first....I mean, really, you hear of second hand smoke, but never second hand spit. :p

Lol that is how one of my old friends quit while he was in the service. They ran out of dip on the ships store so he bought some shredded jerky and never went back. Though he still smokes cigars, so i guess it wasnt a complete stop of nicotine.

I have only seen the one tub size here? it holds about 10 cans. 68 hours and counting the chewing is done for but I am in a fog. I was going to hit a local tournament tonight but my attention span is about 1 1/2 balls lol

It's both, mental and physical. Your liver, bloodstream, lungs, etc are really craving nicotine when trying to quit. No way around it.

I love the shredded jerky and the only problem with me is I would be eating 40 cans a day. Its expensive.
