I was just wondering with the success of the first ipt event does this mean that the wpc will suffer, because even although barry hearn is a millionaire surely he canno't keep up with prize money mr trudeau is putting up so essentialy what I am saying is:

Is the game of 9 ball and the world championships dead?.

Even the ex con Mr Trudeau cant sustain the high prize money in the IPT without more interest from company's who want to buy commercial time on the show. I think this is the same for all leagues and tours, but maybe Mr Trudeau will make it, lets just hope the FTC or the IRS dont get him first. Really the IPT should be a hustlers tournament, since the founder is one of the biggest hustlers around today.:D :D :D :D :D

Ha-ha. I see you have the same opinion of KT as I do. However, he may manage to kill other tours that are in their infancy (such as the wpc) before he decides he can't afford to throw any more money away. I do not think his business model for the IPT is self-substaining. I hope I'm wrong, I'd even put up with KT for the sake of pool.

No. The WPC has upped it's first place prize money to $100 000 this year. Not on par with the average IPT event, but still significant.

I think if the IPT works out and becomes permanent, tours like the UPA will probably become second tier pro tours. Kind of like the Nationwide tour in Golf. With only 150 players on the IPT, there will be plenty left to play on the UPA or the Planet Pool Tour etc. We just won't see Johnny Archer or another star player on that tour. Then again, some of the players enjoy 9 ball, so the may play some of the tournaments for fun.
