I know this question has been asked before 'cause these Willard Tipper machines have been around a long, long time.
I picked up a Willard Tipper machine and have been reading some not-so-hot comments about it. Is there a problem trimming the side of the tip flush all the way down to the ferrule???
Some say the tipper can chip the ferrule. :frown:
I would have a problem with that .... Any advice would be appreciated.

If you're in a hurry, or careless, you can easily shave off some of the ferrule. My advice is to go slowly, make sure you have a lot of light and it helps to use some type of close-up magnification to see what exactly what you are doing. Also make sure you are using a sharp blade. Good luck.

I recently picked up one of the tipping machines from a local pool hall that went out of business. I contacted Williards about getting some new parts. Their customer support was very helpful.
I have used the machine several times and have had no problems. You do have to go slowly has you get near the end of shaving the tip down to size. This is what the screw is for in the shaver. You don't want to get the shaft too far into the shaver.
They have a video that shows how to use the machine. If you don't have it just call them.
