Willie Hoppe Cue

I thought I'd share photos of this cue and get some input on it. The handle is leather wrap. The collar appears to be brass or copper. Thanks!

What do you guys think about the signature? It looks like the ones on the old Rambos. Was this something that you could special order?

I am wondering the same thing, what do the rest of you guys think about the script on the forearm?

I am no expert, but the finish over the Hoppe logo and that script looks to be nice and shiny, more so than the rest of the cue perhaps? Also the script itself looks to be very dark and almost perfect, unlike most other examples of Herman's work (can't remember the name of who did the "pretty" script). In any case it us certainly a very cool classic cue! Curious to hear what the experts think! -Josh

I'm not an expert at all of these, but y is the joint ring and brass joint different sizes, I do like how the veneers still have very nice color.

Thank you all for your comments and questions. The "Willie Hoppe" script is above the finish, while the owner's name is beneath on the wood. This would indicate the finish is original. It certainly looks original to me. I've read that the early Hoppes used two methods for applying the Hoppe signature, that the label is an early 40's, but that the Phillips butt plate screw is later. Lots of intricacies.

The owner's name is in a very nice script. Not sure what that means. I've seen virtually identical script on cues which are said to be by Rambow. If this is a possibility, plus to answer the other questions, I ought to go through the trouble and expense of having it authenticated.

Rambow? Ebony Titlist? Ivory ring? This cue has a lot of value as it sits.

Thank you. Collecting of anything has so many variables. I would like this cue to be examined in hand by someone knowledgeable at least for how true it is and how the points line up. I'm not at all expert.

I get a lot of AZ'ers contacting me through my site, telling me they own a cue and asking questions about it. It generally turns out that the cue was shown here and the person is trying to decide how much to offer the seller for it.

I am not actively buying cues, so you might as well be honest with me up-front - you'll get a lot more information from me that way.

I do authenticate Rambo Cues.

I have all the measurements . Here is one of my old Rambo Cues.

The Cue in question appears to be a personalized Hop. See there. Didn't cost $150. The Rambo Cues have a different shape.
judging from your pictures I do not see Rambo..
Nick :)

I listed the cue on ebay. I've enjoyed learning about cues and seeing the great talent and craftsmanship displayed by the cue makers. Not to mention the case makers. They are definitely works of art.
