I'm preparing to sell this Hoppe replica and am trying to place a value on it. I bought it new around 1977. The cue and original shaft is numbered 917 and rolls straight together and apart. The extra shaft was made by Palmer Billiards around 1978 and it has a bit of taper roll to it. The butt is 14.00 oz, the original shaft is 3.9 and the extra shaft is 4.00 oz. The original shaft is 12mm at the tip and the extra shaft is 12.7mm. The original shaft was refinished and parts of the serial number while being VERY faint can still be seen on it. Overall the cue is in very good shape. There is a couple very small marks on the forearm and a couple deeper ones on the butt below the wrap. The wrap is close to perfect. Can someone suggest a value on this cue?
Thanks very much

Looks like it may be more of a conversion from an original 1950’s-60’s model (earlier 1940’s first execution models have the signature ivory hoppe ring) you can acquire untouched versions of original 50’s hoppe cues from $300-700 condition dependent. I would guess yours would fall into a similar range 🤷‍♂️

It's a Japanese import model and these go for like $200 or less. That $500 offer you got on Facebook is like winning the lottery, take it before he changes his mind

Yeah I probably would have taken the $500 offer on FB but before I could accept it, some jackass immediately posted that the cue was only worth $200 so now the buyer has ghosted me. You wouldn't happen to know who that jackass was do you........?

If you put it on eBay with a $0.99 starting bid for 7 days, you'll get top dollar

These cues go high at auction

this is accurate and if you look closely at the veneers (or even not so closely) you'll see they are a more vivid color version of titlist veneers.

I also agree that the ebay auction would yield the best result for such a cue.

You bought it new in 1977.... so has the cue been yours the whole time? Has it ever been refinished? If it was an actual "Willie Hope Professional Cue" it would have had the sticker. So assuming it's been in your possession the whole time, and you stated it's a replica cue, we should assume it is. Unfortunately in full disclosure and honesty you should list it as such (as someone will likely notice it). Your best bet is to state you don't know where it was made since you said you really don't know.

Overall if it's a full splice under the wrap, the veneers look nice, and at around 45 years old the wood has probably totally stabilized no matter what was used. I would think it's a good candidate for a full conversion or refinish, and should look great!

I have a Willie Hoppe I got when I was 16 years old and still have it. The one advertised looks different than mine. It is close but something about it looks different. I think it might be the points.

Butt cap is different and the machining on the shaft inserts is also different.

Also mine had no rubber bumper. It was bumperless. Just a hard butt plate.
Pictures of a Brunswick Willie Hoppe. Original shaft picture on the right. Longer shaft was a extra shaft made by A.E
Schmidt in St. Louis. My son Alex name on the cue.
