I was just wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction of where to find any tapes of the legends playing straight pool, mainly Willie Mosconi. The one tape I have is the "Clash of the Titans" where Mr. Crane runs 150. If possible, I'd like the tapes to be from this era. Thanks for the help.

I only know of one.

Accu-stats has a Mosconi/Caras tribute dinner match from about 1990 where these guys play each other to 150. They are both in their 80's and Willie is visibly sick. I have the tape and I bought it because I really wanted to see Willie play. The guys are old and they miss some really easy shots but you see a few small glimpses of what they must have been like in their prime. I think that years ago ABC Wide World of Sports had some 14.1 matches that were televised and I would love to see them but I'm pretty sure that footage will never see the light of day again. I would love to see film of a 14.1 match with Willie Mosconi in his prime. If you find anything please let me know. If I had a time machine I would definitely go back to the 1940's and see Willie and a lot of the other 14.1 greats in their prime.

Ive got three classics videos as follows:

Mosconi vs. Caras, Pocket Billiards Championships
(A tribute to Willie Mosconi and Jimmy Caras, the valley hall of fame dinner show)

-Crane vs. Balsis, 1966 US Open

I've also got a Willie Mosconi instructional video called "World of Pocket Billiards"

Pretty sure there all out of print. Check your PM as I've sent you a message.

There is a guy that sells some tapes but I can't think of his name right now. As I recall they were pretty pricy. Some from the old WWof sports etc. I've seen the man play many times, he made 14-1 seem like childs play.

I watched him in LA. For that tournament 125 was was match score. He broke, played safe and forced a young Ritchie Florence into a foul. He played safe again and Florence took another foul. Willie played safe again and Florence, not wanting to three foul, left Willie a shot. Willies reply was 125 and out, to a minus 2 for Florence. The eventual tournament winner was Mosconi, he had retired from pool a few years earlier. LOL

Contact Bert Kinister at 1-800 898 7665. I know he has a set of ten or so Classic Videos that sell for a rather pricey $50 apeice. He might be able to help you find what you are looking for. Good Luck, RJ

Mosconi

I've got the three RJ referred to. I also have one between Willie and jimmyCaras shot maybe sometime in the 70s. It was played in Chicago, seemed to be a rematch of one willie lost earlier that year or the previous year. I think it is abc.
pm me if you want a copy.

I don't think Bert has anything significant regarding Mosconi in his stuff.

Does anybody else have any leads on other Mosconi tapes and where we can find them?
