Miss Ga Young Kim. 11-8. This match was marked by superb safeties early in the match by Miss Kim to get the early lead followed mid match by some poor shot selection and a few misses to allow S M Liu back in it tying at 8 i believe. Nevertheless Ga Young was able to pull it out. Although some of her matches were not stellar, she still went undefeated and beat everyone there was under great pressure and retained her title.

Congrats ...

to Ga Young Kim on her win. She sure seems like the player to challenge Allison and Karen for a spot among the top ranked women players. Although there were many quality players, I believe that Ga Young Kim has acquired the seasoning and knowledge to be a champion that these other young players have not, yet.

First congatulations to Ga on her second World Championship.:)
Regarding your post Scott, Ga has the knowledge and skill to beat anybody anytime from what I've seen, but she definately has a problem with consistancy and patience (may be related problems). Of course the ONLY womens player I've seen that doesn't have that problem is Allison.

Congrats Lil' Devil Girl!

Thanks for the info.

Was there any doubt?

Ga Young is poised to take the women's game to new heights, CONGRATS to her defending her championship!

And a big thanks to Davey for making such detailed posts keeping us updated.

Nostroke,
Everyone so far has failed to ask the most important question; "were you there?" If you were, then we are all very jealous and hate you. If you were just relaying the news service info, then many thanks (and we all like you - it's just the way pool players are).

Im sure you know by now, i was indeed there. I posted that in one of the threads along the way.

I just arrived home today at noon. Yesterday i flew from Taiwan to Osaka and then from Osaka to Detroit and then from Detroit to Raleigh NC where my car was and then i drove 400 miles north, collapsing in a not-of-my-choice motel in Delaware or MD at 11PM. Because of the time change it was a 36 hour day.

I had a lot of fun and learned quite a bit about the world. The trip certainly was enhanced by GYK's victory.

She plays in Michigan City this week but she will have to have some supernatural stamina to do well there with the grueling transworld schedule.

Will u be there?

It's pretty much for sale at the right price tbut Ga Young has expressed an interest. I might show it to her this week if i can figure a way to bring it safely to Indiana. I have to give the World Champ first crack, then we will see-but Im definitely not going to let it go cheap if she doesnt take it. I'll just hang on to it unless i get an offer i cant refuse.

Nostroke,
Thanks for the update, it sounds like you had a great trip. We really don't hate you (just very, very, very jealous).

I had to cancel my Michigan City plans, but will definitely be in Peoria. I'll buy at your very favorite establishment the Burger Barge (just kidding, maybe you could join us at a Bob Evan's breakfast instead). Have a safe trip to M-city, I hope to hear some updates from the venue.

Thanks for pointing that out. There has been at least one deep thinker (not on here) who been floating a hare brained theory as to why I attend only women's events. The premise incorrect and the conclusion proposterous.

The fact that i have been to the the DCC every year since year 2, every US Open the last 10 years, the World Championships in Cardiff the last 3 years it was there, the UPA Championships, the Patriot Cup, the World Summit and Big Apple Classic every year it was held, Turning Stone and about a zillion other events having no weight of course. Oh well-such is life.

That is too bad-you gotta quit that job!

Id forgotten about that Burger Barge. At least 10 waitresses and not one would look anywhere near me. Not only was i invisible apparently but the evidence strongly suggests there was a force field surrounding my immediate area that would automatically divert any eyes that threatened to intrude my space.

Bob Evans sounds terrific and If ican get wireless, ill give updates.

Nostroke,
It's not my real job that is interfering (I'm not going to let THAT happen). I also play in a rock and roll band - we have a gig this Friday and Saturday. I've only got a few years left of rock and roll energy; so I can't pass it up - it's a tough job, but somebody has to do it.

I like the "invisible force field" theory. If I remember correctly, it happened to me every time I was in the presence of a good looking girl in college.
