Wish my captain knew how to balance a check book!

My first session with this team/captain. 2 weeks in a row he bounced a check on accident. We would be in 1st if we got those 4 bonus points but we're in 4th because of it. I hate dumbasses. Needless to say this will also be my last session with said dumbass.

So you get bonus points if the check clears? What is this an accounting league???

j/k - sucks to be in that situation. You can still overcome though. Hang tough and don't worry about what he does. Just shoot the balls in front of you and you'll be all right.

This is how I became the captain if my team, sigh. The previous guy messed up pretty badly.

(Then I went and did it myself, with a little external help. Not as badly, and quickly corrected. Still, rather embarrassing.)

I have become rather regimented in getting that stuff done now. Pain in the tookus, but necessary, in league play.

hahaha this is the funny thing about apa and shows you they're ALL about the money. They give you bonus points for paying your dews on time. lol I can see a team taking first place not because they earned it on the table but because another team bounced a check and didn't get there bonus points! lol that would be something to be real proud of !! lol

Yup, they are a business.

And as I understand it, APA national doesn't institute any bonus points/paperwork bonus, the individual operators do. Because it is THEIR business, and they would kind of like to be paid on time. I expect Lowe's expects to be paid by their creditors, just like you expect to be paid at the end of the week, too.

Kinda the same way I ended up team captain. "Well, somebody's gotta do it, why not you?" Five years later . . . Still me

lowes paying me has nothing to do with getting points for your team based on paying instead of winning..theres a difference. All your points ranking you should be based on skill on the table. I understand they need to get paid. If you don't pay you don't play just like bca does. But you have to earn your points in other leagues on the table..not by paying on time. I EARNED my pay at lowes by WORKING for it. They don't say hey we through you an extra 100 for showing up every day this week..Good job ! lol

btw I din't realize it was the bonus points was a local thing. our lo gives you 10 points a week for paying on time.

I look at it more like this...

Everyone gets the points for paying on time. No one can go a week without scoring at least those points.

By not paying on time, you get penalized. The other teams don't get more, you get less.

Our league has around 15 divisions, some with 4-6 teams, some 8-14 teams. Most playing two nights a week. That is A LOT of paperwork, and it needs to get done in time to send out the next weeks paperwork with accurate information.

People that can't put a stamp on an envelope and get it in the mail the next day screw all that up for those running the league.

No, I can't draw the ball worth $hit, but I do make sure my team gets our weekly paperwork points.

Well I just don't think your final standings in a league should have anything to do with whether you paid on time so we will have to agree to disagree :)

I've been fortunate enough to play with the same guys every season. And every year there's at least two guys that want to pay me in full for their sanction fees and dues.

So I cover the rest of the season, and send payment in full (sanction fees and season's dues) to the league operator.

My teammates pay me back throughout the course of the season. And because I've already paid that money out of my own pocket, the dues that my teammates bring me is now my spending money for the night. Sure, sometimes somebody will forget to bring a few extra bucks one week... :frown:

But at least this way, it's only an inconvenience for me, versus not being able to pay the dues that week and having the whole team benched because one or two guys forgot to bring their dues.

I'd rather be ahead than behind.

I can wait another week for my teammate to bring me an extra $10/$20.

The league can't wait. And shouldn't have to.

I just joined a new team that pays weekly but on my old team we would pay the whole session up front. I liked that better.

Call our league old fashioned but we pay cash every week.

If the OP is in a situation similar to mine, you can't pay cash.

My LO lives over 100 miles away, and I'm not interested in making that drive to pay in cash.

:p

(And as somebody already said, money orders don't bounce...that is what I use now, no worries)

Well, guess the rest of us would show up wearing pirate gear as we be having a munity on that bounty. Gotta git it done. We also pay upfront for the season, done. Good Luck, but, a common sense approach should work, or have him walk the plank. His captain days are behind him.
