I just read the AZ front page about your diagnosis of diabetes. I'm sorry to hear that bro. It can be a bad one if you let it get bad. Keep away from the sugar =O. I last saw you playing a challenge match in Jacksonville with a little girl. I think you showed a lot of heart in giving a little excitement to the youth. Here's wishing you future health!

Sorry to here about your health problem. I know you have the heart to lose some weight, start eating right, and monitor your blood sugar. Get back on track quick. You're a great player that will only get a lot better in good health. Johnnyt

Best of health to you and yours. My wife was recently diagnosed with gestational diabetes. Although hers may go away after the pregnacy. Best of luck to all your future endevors.

Favorite line from a friend about "The Love Sponge"....

As quoted at the finals of the Players Championship in Valley Forge, PA

I too am sorry to hear of your diabetes. I would like to pass on to you that i also 'was' diabetic. In May 2005 my glucose was 242 and my doctor said i have to do something. I did. Not taking care of it scared me. I went to a nutritionist and found out how to eat properly. I also walk from 3 to 6 miles a day. I took this seriously. It was my life. In 8 months i lost 60lbs and now my glucose is under 95. I no longer take my Metformin. I have way toooo much energy now. My whole life has changed. And once it becomes a way of life it is soooo easy to do. I also made the very aburpt change in the beginning to stop everything to get my diabetes under control. And now that i have hindsight i see that wasnt necessary. You can learn to eat and exercise while still doing the things you love to do. I never gave up my 6 hours of pool each week. I have full confidence in your ability to change your way of life for the better. I can be done and boy do you feel great for doing it. Good luck....

Shawn,

Wishing you a speedy recovery. I am borderline diabetic myself and really have to watch my weight, exercise level and intake. You can take control of it with some commitment on your part. Best of health to you.. Hope to see you at the DCC this year. Peace

Important to do.

Shawn ... My Dad was, my Mom is, and my brother is a little diabetic. It is important to educate yourself about diabetes. Hospitals offer courses about the disease and how to manage it in your life. It would be money well spent for you, and is nominal.

So far, I am NOT diabetic, but I get tested for it at least annually. (and I thank the Good Lord for that). Because my eating habits are somewhat erratic, and have been most of my life.

I have a friend, who owned a Pool room, in his mid 70's, who had to get all of toes amputated on both feet because of diabetes. It can also affect your eyes, so take it very seriously because it is a serious disease.

Wish you all the best shawn, My grandma got diagnosed in 1997, and they just put her on insuln a week ago. I wish you all the best, i was the young blonde kid at josey's both at valley forge.
