Women and cuemaking?

I know there are a handful of women out there that make cues, but I also wonder about, perhaps, women (wives, girlfriends, friends) that get involved
with the design of the cues, particularly the inlays.

I can imagine where some women may have been involved previously in
jewelry design or a graphics designer could add some creativity to cuemaking, particularly how a cue ends up looking.

I am pretty sure that some of our men cuemakers probably run designs by their wives for approval, so to speak.

Do you know women that are highly involved in the cuemaking process?

The wives of many of the cuemakers that I've interviewed (and have yet to interview) are/were part of the cuemaking process in a non-adminstration capacity. Usually, it's inlays, but not always.

Laurie Franklin has said that she's done every part of making the cues.

Richard Black's wife has quite a reputation as an expert at putting on wraps of all kinds.

And Annie Mayes (AnnieO) from here in Texas is a full-fledged cuemaker and makes a great shaft according to some players.

Judd Fuller's wife Trudy cuts the inlays on his wands.
I believe Mike Bender's wife does the same.
Bert Schrager's wife operated the panto too I am told.

I frequented Judd's shop in Riverside back in the early 90's before he became a mountain man in Yellowjacket.:D
Trudy's pretty niffty with that Gorton Panto.:)

I know that COKER'S wife picks out the woods and the colors for the inlays, etc and Coker builds according to her choices...She has a very good eye for the wood combos and the inlay work...In fact if you are undecided on what you want she will help you. Or advise you if she thinks your design won't look good....But she leaves the final decision up to you....

Eugene Balner's wife was instrumental in the building of Palmer cues. I know that she did the wraps among other tasks.
