Women getting spotted A ball at the joy grand masters

Kelly fisher gave her take on what she thought about women getting the last ball taken off the table. I’m not sure how I feel about it either way. If you enter the event you should play under the same rules but I see her other point that there is no womens division.
What I would be interested in is if she thinks as a card carrying member of the lgbtq community that trans person should get that spot since it seems most of them believe that if you think your a women suddenly any advantage perceived or other wise maniacally disappear.

What do you all think.

Just on a side note as I’ve said before I think women will catch up to men eventually as more women play and take the game seriously. I’m not sure testosterone gives men a clear advantage in a game like pool but that being said as long as they are having tournaments for just women people born as men have no business playing in them.

The main problem with pro pool is that it gets too easy and so far the only way they found to make it harder is to make the break harder and the break is what separate men fron women. I don't care what anybody say, just watch women pool and see for yourself, they don't break as good and as consistently as men.

The other thing, if you look at the WPBA, most of the American player are working moms and don't have the time to put into pool as some players from Europe and Asia, where they take pool in a more serious manner and as a sport.

In her prime, Jasmin Ouschan was the first woman that came close to play at top men's speed as she did have a rather big and consist break, but all the current top players are far from where she used to be.

I was watching the streams of the last WPBA event from NYC, I enjoyed it. I think that they have a good thing going and they should not look at mixing it with the men.

At one time I agreed with that about the break but with today’s equipment playing 9 ball or 10 ball you don’t have to have a monster break. Plus no one had and insanely consistent break to svb took it to another level. But that dude can grind and break for 12 hours straight. So I guess I partially agree with you. They definitely don’t have the break men do but I think the consistency will come through work .. power isn’t as much a problem now imo

In WNT events where they rack the 9 ball on the spot, there is no 3 points rule but the referee will warn a player that doesn't break hard enough. Mixing women in such event will create and un-even conditions if the women can soft break and the men can't, and if they'll allow for men to soft break, well that will be the end of that.

In WPA event, the 1ball on the spot and 3 points rule in paly, again the women have no chance against the men's big break.

Well sure they would all. Have to play under the same rules. No doubt.

I am against any automatic handicap for someone because they are different. We all know the skill level of the players, if they want to handicap them, do it by skill. I mean there are not a lot of black players (are there any?) in the top 100 in the world either, are we going to start saying "if you are black you get a one ball spot?" It would sound ridiculous.

please and thank you

trans people represent about one half of one percent of humanity and that number as pool players in china is going to be so small that this interest of yours will hopefully-

maniacally disappear

1 is to many if it’s taking a single spot away from A real women. Get out of here with that trash. Women fought for title 9 for a reason. It will never disappear because I have basic common sense and stopped playing pretend when I was a child. .

It's sexist nonsense, and prevents progress. It's simply ego saving for men who would probably lose to solid female players anyway, and it further embeds the already firmly established psychology of difference that exists within the game (the attitudes, marketing, equipment, locations to play etc) to any young female wishing to take it up. But there are many who profit from this difference, and will happily further perpetuate it whilst pretending they are encouraging or helping female players...

Very true. When the top European women and the top Asian women come to a WPBA event (less often for the Asian women aside from Wei Wei), they clean up against the American ladies. That includes the Euro women living in the U.S.

Some of the girls turn instant world beater with that spot SO

Take away the flat rate. Limited use per match and even more calibration throughout their system.
Now they have to play by a plan and strategize per rack.

The real problem with pro pool today is "That the break has so much influence."

1-P, 3C, snooker, and 14.1 continuous; do not have that problem.

...snip...

Is there actually any sport where women are the favorite over men, when no handicap is involved? I can't think of a single one off the top of my head.

I don’t think that there is any sport that involves physicality that mixes men and women.
Chess and poker are not really a sport

AI says:

There are a few sports where women have an edge over men, particularly in endurance-based and precision-focused events. Some examples include:

  • Ultra-Endurance Running: Women tend to have better pacing strategies and higher pain tolerance, which can give them an advantage in extreme long-distance races.
  • Freediving: Women have held world records in breath-hold diving due to physiological differences that allow them to conserve oxygen more efficiently.
  • Equestrian Sports: In disciplines like show jumping and dressage, men and women compete on equal footing, and women have historically performed exceptionally well.
  • Sport Shooting: Some studies suggest that women may have steadier hands and better fine motor control, which can be beneficial in precision shooting events.
While men generally have advantages in strength-based sports, women excel in areas requiring endurance, strategy, and precision.

a relative of mine used to breed horses, one of which eventually competed in the olympics (show jumping). i know a little about it. in terms of participation, both amateur and pro, the women outnumber the men many times over. but in terms of olympic gold medals / best riders, the men have dominated..

on topic, i don't think the handicap is fair. this is now the biggest paying cue sport event and it's just not right that it's handicapped. imho.
