I wanted to give out a personal special shout out to my friend and teammate, Stacie Bourbeau for winning the 2007 BCA Women's Masters National Championship. It's bittersweet for me, as Stacie has to play other AZBers Linda Carter and Kathy Friend on her way to the title going undefeated.
Stacie started playing pool as a teenager in the mid 90's and immediately got noticed and subsequently mentored by our hometown's best player. She has a big break and is a fearless shotmaker. Our area has always been a bar table area, and her tactics playing bar table 8-ball represent the area style very well. Her first year in the BCA Women's Open was I believe 2000 where she scored a runner up finish. She's also recently placed in the top 4 at the Valley Forge amateur 9-ball tournament, a game she really doesn't play.
Lately, she has rededicated herself to the game, and this year's victory is a culmination of the work she's put in. She's still got a long ways to go to really compete against the next level, but she's put herself in a good spot, and the other amateur ladies are going to have to take notice.
Congratulations Stacie!
