I am setting up the ground work to have a Women's USBA 3C International Invitational Tournament. The USBA does have money earmarked for a women's tournament. It would be a 28 woman round robin from players from around the world.

I need my billiard friends to help contribute to the prize fund through donations, raffles, help with airfare for players, sponsor a player or two from my billiard business friends.

The plan is to have the tournament this Summer.

I plan on having this live streamed from the Carom Club in Wyoming, Mi.

Please pm me so we can have a 3C women's tournament everyone will be proud of.

Thanks in advance!

I will sponsor Gülsen Degener, but there is also the European Championship in August. 12-14. August 2011. I try two times to organize the WC in Germany, i had a sponsor , but no reaktion from the federation. My be they want to cancel Ladies 3-cushion.

Hi 3-cushion fan,

Sometimes I really think they want to cancel Ladies 3-cushion. But mister Dupont said to me they are waiting for a country who wants to organize it and nobody applied for it, so it's strange that they didn't respond to you.(Or didn't the German federation respond?) That's why it sometimes seems to me that they really don't want to make an afford for Ladies Billiards....too bad... But thank you for trying and I hope that there will be a World Championship for Ladies soon.

Best regards, Therese Klompenhouwer, The Netherlands

While it is true the USBA does have around $2300, ALL OF WHICH I COLLECTED when I was chairman of the Jr/Women's Committee, this money was never "earmarked" just for the women. THIS MONEY WAS NEVER INTENDED TO BE USED FOR PRIZE MONEY, but ONLY to pay for the expenses of our champions in these catagories to play and represent our country in international competition. The people who donated these monies did so ONLY on this condition. Again, these monies were donated ONLY on the condition that they would NOT be used for prize money. Should the USBA decide to use them in this manner there will be a number of VERY ANNOYED people out there who will probably never contribute again. Be cautious here......

28 players are too many to try for. If you really want 28 then you should plan on a 5 day event. True 28 can play off in three days l but then it is just an indurance contest. I think 16 would be a more judicious number.

I will talk to Mercedes about this when I see her in a few days at SBE. I am sure she will want to play in which case I will make that happen. She has always assured me the she "....will be anywhere, anytime....." that I need her to show off her skills.

When you say summer what do you mean?? Summer is only 3 months away and as we discussed when you were planning to get Jaspers I really do not think you are giving yourself enough time to prepare for an event of this signifigance. An event of this nature needs to be planned AT LEAST a year in advance, as Paul and I have been doing with The Championship of Champions soon to happen in Philly [as I write this I am in Gettysburg with Bill Johnson treking the battlfield--will be in PHILLY tomorrow].

Live streaming is always good......try not to piss off Zinger and Curly between now and then. ;):D:p

I don't pm so don't to me please. Nor e mail......stuff like this is at minimum a telephone talk.
Cheers, good luck on this, stay in touch!!!!!!

My friend Dennis,

Dennis: While it is true the USBA does have around $2300, ALL OF WHICH I COLLECTED when I was chairman of the Jr/Women's Committee, this money was never "earmarked" just for the women.

Me: So at what point should someone step up and use the money to promote women's billiards. Or should we keep it for posterity?

Dennis: Should the USBA decide to use them in this manner there will be a number of VERY ANNOYED people out there who will probably never contribute again. Be cautious here......

Me: There are a number of people that are annoyed that the money is not being utilized now. Which group do you want to annoy least?

Dennis: Live streaming is always good......try not to piss off Zinger and Curly between now and then.

Me: Ha. I'm afraid that ship has sailed long ago.

Dennis: The Championship of Champions soon to happen in Philly [as I write this I am in Gettysburg with Bill Johnson treking the battlfield--will be in PHILLY tomorrow].

Me: Have a safe trip and have fun at SBE.

Therese:Sometimes I really think they want to cancel Ladies 3-cushion.

Steve: I can understand your suspicions. It's hard to come to any other conclusion. I think the ladies have to organize themselves. It doesn't appear it's on the radar screen for most men. It will take some high profile women to bring this to fruition.

The USBA has a fund to help promote women's billiards. There seems to be a resistance to use it. I hope it is at least earning interest!

What am I missing?

It would seem that among all sports women can compete on an equal basis in 3C, no? Why would there need to be a separate division?

After all, isn't televised women's pool far more popular than men's?

Therese/ Steve, Should I bring up an old discussion post we did back in 9/30/2010.

Therese will this happened and why nothing mention http://www.usba.net/2011Tour-CueCushionHndcp-4-15.asp

CUE & CUSHION BILLIARD LOUNGE in Hooksett, New Hampshire will host the 2011 USBA
3-Cushion Billiards Tour with some special guests participating. Featured players include Ladie's European Champion Therese Klompenhouwer (not yet confirmed),

Since I'm a non member, I have no say so. But Who in charge of the JR/Women program now for USBA?? They would have the decision? Yes or No?

Steve: There really is no one. I was going to consider taking on that responsibility but am wondering whether beating my head against the wall again makes much sense. Many critics / less volunteers. I understand that is the nature of things. But it doesn't sting any less.

It is indeed under the jurisdiction of the USBA.

If USBA use Jr/Women Fund, for other uses, than JR/Women promption. Its would only show USBA have no interest in Jr/Women programs. Mercede G should have an input about the money. Sample: Some of the money should of been use -For Mercede G to hold a 3C Clinc for women at the SBE in Valley Forge. Or Training.

For Junior or Women to find anything pertaining to their reqiurement. They must go to UMB website, as there nothing on USBA website for either Junior or Women.

I believe communication for a women 3C tournament in the U.S. Need to be discuss with the WPBA. As that where the players are. Nothing against Mercede, Park, O Lee, or Shim to mention a few who play 3C

Either way Steve . Good Luck with this Tournament.

Dennis: of course the money should be used, my only point is that those who donated this money DID NOT WANT IT USED FOR PRIZE MONEY.....anything else from advertising and promoting a event to send a player to represent the US in world play is kosher, prize money is not.

Dennis: Should the USBA decide to use them in this manner there will be a number of VERY ANNOYED people out there who will probably never contribute again. Be cautious here......

Dennis: the group that gave the money of course. HOW MANY OF THOSE THAT ARE ANNOYED THAT IT IS NOT BEING UTILIZED ACTUALLY DONATED ANY OF THIS MONEY IN THE FIRST PLACE. Send me their names and i will tell you who is who.

Bill Johnson says: "HI !"

STEVE: The USBA has a fund to help promote women's billiards. There seems to be a resistance to use it. I hope it is at least earning interest!

DENNIS: why don't you ask the S/T that question ? I asked it a year ago and the answer was: "NO !" Maybe things have changed since then.........
AND AGAIN, the monies in this fund are not just to promote women's billiards but also junior billiards, but NOT for prize monies. :deadhorse: If the USBA wants to use this money fine, but if it is used for purposes other than what it was donated for, there will be no future donations from these sources. at least that is what they have told me when they originally donated the money. While a number of people donated $100 or less there were half a dozen major donations of over $1000 to this fund, WITH THE UNDERSTANDING THAT I COULD PRETTY MUCH DO WHATEVER I WANTED WITH THE MONEY, as long as it was not used for prize monies. That is why there is still money in the bank, I did a good job. Incidently, I still have money pledged to me personally, NOT THE USBA, should I organize any events in these areas in the future, which I am planning to do. Organize your thoughts and we will have a long chat about this when Bill and I get back from Philly [If I can figure out how it is done I may be posting a few overnite video clips showing the seamier side SBE 2011 !!!]...........cheers

Deek-a-mom: Yes rite on BRO.......Mercedes will be holding a clinic WITH OUT THE HELP OF THE USBA during the course of SBE 2011.....be there or be square

Deek-a-mom: certainly is a shame, absolutely, why do you think I have joined your ranks and become a non-member????? Thank goodness I am not responsible anymore for trying to get people to work OFF THE TABLE [an impossible task], but by god that is what I am doing......MY PLAYING DAYS ARE OVER........teaching only and only women and children......I may even appeal to The USGA to get back my amateur status !! :groucho::kma:

Dennis,

I am surprised to hear you say that the Women's/Juniors Billiard Fund is NOT to be used for prize money. I thought that was the ONLY reason for the fund! Didn't we use money from this fund to finance the prize fund for the 2008 Women's Championship Tournament? I also know that David Levine is usually very emphatic about his donations ONLY being used for prize money and nothing else. So what is going on here?

Jim Shovak, The question is what is USBA Plan/View for the future of Junior/Women Carom?? I believe we never heard what B. Warner found out about Spain Youth Program, or the information wasn't share outside of the Board Members inner circle.

Even if you use the money as Prize Money - Where the Tournament for either Junior or Women. If you don't have players, then the money should be use to promote these program.

The past isn't the question - only the future. and change can be made, and that what bylaw are for.

Hi Steve,

Ok, this is, IN MY EYES, the Top 20 women of the World, based on average. ( Not looking at the official World Ranking, because the more you play, the more points you have and many girls don’t play much tournaments. )

1. Therese Klompenhouwer (Netherlands)

2. Orie Hida (Japan)

3. Yuko Nishimoto (Japan)

4. Namiko Moori (Japan)

5. Kazumi Hida (Japan)

6. Mercedez Gonzales (US)

7. Karina Jetten (Netherlands)

The first 7: All averages above the 0,650

8. Gerrie Geelen (Netherlands)

9. Monique van Hamond (Netherlands)

10. Gulsen Degener (Turkye)

11. Danielle Le Bruyn (Belgium)

12. Su Ah Park (Korea)

8-12: all averages between the 0,550 and 0,649

For the other 8 places I have many, many names, who play around the 0,500 or lower and will not make that much a differents in who is better. As you may see, Japan is really strong and our country is also strong. I think in Japan there are even more female players, who are also play around the 0,650, but I don’t have the results and from the 4 I wrote about, I know them and know how they play. Su ah Park is also much stronger then 2 years ago, so maybe she has a better average now a days…. For the tournament: . Maybe its better to make a tournament with 16, and to take from each country 1 or 2 competitors….And from the US like 6 players… But I am just thinking out loud J

Ok, I hope I was helpful, Therese

Dieckman: The women's championship that you mention special donations were solicited and spent for the added money to the prize fund [$4000] but that was a one time event. The money came in and went out. I can assure you that what remains in the USBA account was donated ONLY to be spent to send a representive from the USA to play for a WORLD's championship and until the USBA holds another JR or WOMEN's championship it should remain in the bank [hopefully drawing a pitance of interest], which means it will probably be there forever.

Of course your board can at any time decide to spend that money on anything that they want to, including hookers if that is their desire. But I am out of it so I don't give a Rat Fookers Ass about what you do with the money. Just whenever you spend it on whatever I would expect an accurate and timely reporting, even tho you are a very busy man, be made to those that are still members.

Frankel, Mr. Brown, The TUNA all say hi and are here in PHILLY. If you change your mind, get a wild hair up your a$$, decide to come, I got a suite and an extra bed in the other room which could be yours if you call in time. Call
TUNA if there are arrangements to be made.

cheers !!!

I would like to know, how you all think about organizing a Women's World Championship? Because I think that is more easy if you look at the organisation and money, and also a very good promotion for the US.

Therese,

I know you would prefer to go through the UMB. I support ladies billiards regardless of how we proceed.
