Wonder if Pool Players Stopped buying

As I mention the other day in a different thread Anheuser Bush the maker of Budweiser, Bud Lite, and other produces spent a lot of money on Super Bowl Advertisements.

I do not know about where you live but he in the Valley of the Sun Anheuser Bush, and their Distributor DO NOT SUPPORT POOL in any way shape or form.

I am suggesting to every Pool Player in America to BOYCOTT Anheuser Bush products.

If you don't know all the brands Anheuser Bush sells, manufactures, and distributes there is a little hint below.

anheuser_busch_beer.jpg

Also as part of the Boycott if you see a Anheuser Bush Delivery Driver, Salesman in your travels let them know of the Boycott, and that there is a movement in America by Pool Players to Boycott all the brands Anheuser Bush sells, manufactures, and distributes because Anheuser Bush doesn't support Pool in your area.

I see a lot of Pool Players drinking Anheuser Bush products, and I think we could get Anheuser Bush?s attention if we boycott their product.

I see no reason Anheuser Bush could not give back to Pool, as Pool Players have been giving to Anheuser Bush for years.

I wonder, if you droped a tip in the jar at TACO BELL, would you get your pick em up truck back?

Probable to late now!!!

Pros

The bottom line in this is that they need one organization that all the pro players support as a voice. I believe the UPA has a chance at this. If they can come up with a good solid business plan in which they can market.

Ummmm.... I wonder...do bars/poolrooms get volume discounts?

Think they do.

My hunch is all this would do is put a bar / poolroom out of business long before it had any effect on AB.

There are other Beers to drink when out at a Pool Room or Pool Bar beside the one AB makes, and distruibutes.

Randomly calling for a boycott of AB products out of the blue in an attempt to make them basically pay out money of some form smacks of a form of Extortion......(Your not by chance Italian are you???)

No I am not Italian :D

Someone from the pool industry presenting an opportunity for AB to invest in would seem like more the American way. ;)

I do not think the Pool Associations like BCA, APA, etc. are going after Corporate America like NASCAR does.

Very true!

On a much smaller scale my brother and I have had a good response from Anheuser-Bush(Budweiser), Miller Lite, and Coors to promote our locale annual 9-Ball event over the years, as well as other events across Arkansas, by adding money to the tournament prize fund, banners, and give aways such as, shirts, hats, pool sticks, cases, and moneies off their beer during the event.

All we ever did was go down to the locale beer distributor of choice and ask if they would be intrested in helping promote a pool tournament,( like a few months in advance), and each and everyone of them at one time or another, have been more than happy to contribute in some way.(but we had to ask, their not coming to you!)

As far as a "National Tour Sponsorship", their will have to be organization to present a plan that will work, with the right people behind it, it has a chance to succede.

Awesome, Catpool9! You get it:D Especially the part about you having to ask, because they aren't coming to you. I am so glad you posted this!

What the beer and liquor reps do all of the time is ask the bar and pool room owners if they have any signage they need help with. What a lot of people don't realize is that those big banners outside and inside announcing some special event or the standard marketing venue of Ladies Night on Tuesday, and Two for Ones happy hour from 4-7, etc etc are all supplied to the owners for free from AB most of the time. Owners don't think in terms of getting the $$ support from AB put back into the customers pockets in via tournament $$ or support. They think more about cutting costs on advertising changes for changing up their venues and promoting new events. AB and others deal with the headaches and costs for all of such signage. All they have to do is tell the rep what they want the banners to say and within usually 3-4 weeks they have a bunch of new banner ads to hang outside or in the room for the new weekly venue.

If pool players want something in the way of direct support for a tournament or leaugue from vendors like AB, the best route is like you said... contact the distrubutor and have the rep for the establishment where the event is planned or desired get in touch with you. Most of the reps I met all were happy to do whatever they could to get something going within reason. Of course if you are playing in a hole in the wall that doesn't sell a lot of AB, then you might not go far. Our order just for Bud Light was 500 cases at a time, so AB customers probably had a little pull they didn't even realize. We were more concerned about getting our volume discounts and rebates.

???

What a horrible idea. Bash someone if they arent giving you enough money? The profits that bars make off alcohol PAY for the perks bar leagues expect whenever they have league night. AB currently has 51% of the US market in beer sales. You think HALF the country will switch their choice of alcohol? All the bar owners will give back the coolers and equipment that AB gave or loaned them to sell the beer? You think Corona has all the keg coolers and beer taps all ready to dispense and triple thier market share overnight?

The APA used to be the BUSCH league started here in St Louis. Anheuser-Busch has probably over the years sponsored more amateur sports than any other company in history. Here in St. Louis they give away millions on a regular basis to medical needs, to the homeless, to flood victims. It never ends. Picking on someone because they are successful and owe you something? That was just kinda sad.

Well a funny thing happened yesterday, the Budwiesher Clydesdales

Well a funny thing happened yesterday, the Budwiesher Clydesdales made an appearance with in walking distance of home. Had a chance to talk with an Anheisher Busch Employee regarding the lack of Pool Sponsorship/Support by Anheisher Busch in the Valley of the Sun. I also told the Anheisher Busch Employee about my a boycott of Anheisher Busch products. :)

This corporate employee told me that this type of sponsorship/support like for local Pool is done by ?your? local Anheuser Bush Distributor. He gave me a web-site where anyone in the US, could find out you the Anheuser Bush Distributor was for a particular area.

He said you normally need a long lead time, and to contact the ?promotions manager? of you local Anheuser Bush Distributor if you seek sponsorship/support from Anheuser Bush for your Pool League/Event.

I still off Anheuser Bush products, as I like Mexican Beer better,

but I was also amazed after looking at the Anheuser Bush Web-site all the Products, Anheuser Bush shall we say controls, or has their hand on in the USA. :)

Well....Since you are calling off the boycott of AB products what now???

I guess next you will be calling for a boycott of using chalk until Masters steps up and donates some money to pool players....

I think I will just keep drinking upstream of the Budweiser horses, and waaay upstream of corona or modelo...........

Besides, dont you remember the Busch leagues, Bud light Leagues, or were those just in certain areas......
If Ive been driving a ford or a chevy to the tournaments or poolhalls to play, should I announce a boycott on them until they throw us bone or a tournament..... I think not. There are alot of companies willing to support the locals out there, all you have to do is grow a set, and approach them with a bit of logic and a thought out approach. They also love things that say kids, benefit, fundraiser, memorial, or just about anything else that will give them another shot at exposure and another tax writeoff to help out the community.
And I dont just mean the AZ community.
Personally, I think youve been finding too much peyote in the desert......lol

Wow, that was one successful boycott! It took less than 24 hours for A-B to come through and start supporting pool :p ;)

LOL

LOL

I think it must have had something to do with the number of people that actually participated in the boycott.....(1) :)

I am very grateful that the Boycott has seemingly been cancelled, or at least postponed...as I was really looking forward to my first Stella Artois tonight. Now I can have it with a guilt-free mind (at least the first one).

Think you missed my point, Pool Players support may big corporations, when we buy, and use their products.

AB is just one, and they are a very large one. I see AB doing Zip for Pool in the Valley.

BTW I believe MASTER CHALK Supported Mike H's All Around with Sponsorship, and product.

FYI

I think you are missing our point... you can't get anything if you don't ask for it. So, yeah, maybe AB is not doing anything for pool in the Valley yet... so, go present something to them!

If this thread has proved anything, it's that with a little research and effort you can find exactly what you are looking for.

Perhaps they did...but I doubt Masters asked Mike...I would imagine that someone asked Masters and they said sure no problem...

Kind of the same thing when you approached a AB rep...

BTW - He did not have to threaten a boycott to do it either...

The only thing that is not supporting pool is by calling for rediculous boycotts that (if actually happened) would only result in making it harder for pool rooms to turn a profit.

I have an idea for you.... Whay don't you stop buying gas and food. Stop using electric, gas, and water in your home until they start putting money into the pool industry...
