This question can have many many answers, but let ask the following questions.

1. What type of wood are we talking about?

2. Has the wood been dry for 100 years?

3. Is the wood split or cracked along it's length?

4. Is there any saw dust on the ground below the boards?

5. Are there nails or other foreign objects stuck in the wood?

Until you can answer these questions, no one can answer your's!

Wood can do some funny things in a 100 years. I have worked on cues that were maybe 40 years old that the wood seemed tougher than fresher cut wood. But I have also worked on cues that the wood had become brittle. So who knows if it will be better or worse. Pull up a plank, make a cue and let us know how it goes.
