wood ferrels

you should be able to make your own ferrules out of wood. What kind of wood are you thinking about?

I put one on my bar-beater last year. Made it from a piece of a broken house cue shaft.

It's held up well, even though I routinely break with it.

As soon as I can find some suitable bamboo, I'm going to try it for my next experiment.
 
wooden ferrules

i sent a bit of maple to river ridge products and had it stabalized to use as ferrules. photos are an example of my wood ferrules

Barioni uses laminate wood ferrules but they look odd to me. It depends on how you cut it.

Technically, yes.

"A ferrule (a corruption of Latin viriola "small bracelet", under the influence of ferrum "iron") is a name for types of objects, generally used for fastening, joining, sealing or reinforcement. They are often narrow circular rings made from metal, or less commonly, plastic."

In this case, they are made from wood.
