Eastern red cedar. Useless in cues, unfortunately. That piece is what we call a biscuit in the lumberjack world. It's a cross cut of the log and entirely comprised of end grain. It will also soon begin fading to a dull brown. I have always wanted to attempt stabilizing it, but haven't yet tried. If it can be stabilized & retain color, it could be a huge asset to cue making. Very big IF, though.
